Nice dude, I came super close to buying that on a number of occasions but the yen rate never quite lined up. That looked like a cool one, and the top looks like it could be super nice, but just couldn't quite trust the photo style. Did you give them an offer they accepted or bought it at asking?

I just bought it at asking. I really took a pounding from shipping but I was willing to eat it. It's not often one of these in this condition comes around, at least not that I've seen. My hope is the flame is as nice in person as it is in the photos, but who knows.

So I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger on a white whale guitar. I found this one on a Swedish Reverb shop and just said fuck it. My credit card is hurting but I know I’ll be able to make it up pretty soon. Not in my hands yet, but I’m super excited. 1989 Charvel 750XL. The pickups were replaced with Holy Divers, block was upgraded to a brass block and the fine tuners are also brass (though it’s shipping with the original tuners)

I decided to sell my Fusion SS (hss, dot inlays, bolt on) and wanted to have a Japan made soloist (had an indian made before).
A few days later had a message about my fusion and a guy suggested a trade. When I opened the message I had to look twice since he had a Soloist Pro and he digged the fusion necks better, which is a tiny bit too thin for me. So it already was a win-win.

So ended up well for me and he liked the fusion and we made the trade. I had to pay a little extra on top of the trade (of course) but really not a lot especially considering the diffence in worth of these guitars.

Soloist definitely has been played and has quite a few dings here and there and maybe needs some fret leveling. But goddamn! No wonder they say these are the holy grail of the japanese Jacksons. It is simply gorgeous!

The serial stars with 2 so I assume it's a '92?

Serials on imports are hard to decode. There used to be a website around for this.

If you decided it's a long-term keeper then you can buy plastic plugs to fill the empty pot hole, and have it refretted with stainless steel.

Looks great for its age!

There are many battlescars, but all in the backside. Doesn't bother me that much...
I actually already used a plastic plug for the hole. This is the first mod for all the jacksons for me since the vol pot is ridiculously close to the picking hand...

This thing should be a keeper and the first one that I might consider refretting at one point. For now a fret level would do the job.

I've only heard good things about the Korean Jacksons too.
I've played several of the sandblasted ash 6s and 7s and they're quite good. The MiM Dinkys are good, too.

Such cool guitars. You're gonna need a back brace, though.

Checked this out today. Plays great and outside of a couple finish chips pretty much a case queen. One of the weirder soloists I've seen, with it being a 3 single coil (EMG) set-up and with a blue logo. Binding nibs are intact and the frets are in great shape.

Anyone in here have a Rick Graham DK24 and can chime in with their experice with it? I've never owned a Gotoh510 so how's the tuning stability? I'm used to my hipshot/Tight End bridges. Considering purchasing one but I won't be able to play it. I've played the MIM ones and those felt great but the Duncan's in the MIM are awful. I reached out to BKP and they told me the Rick Graham DK24 has a Ragnarok bridge & 63' veneer board strat singles in it.

510's are amazing bridges but as with any non-locking bridge tuning stability is almost entirely dependent on nut slot quality - stability was impeccable on the Suhrs I've owned. I've played a Rick Graham and I thought the neck was VERY D-shaped, but I know a lot of people are into that kinda thing.

So I bought some duncans to replace the dimarzio bridge and mid on my Jackson PC1. I cracked open the guitar to find that it has a full circuit board in it and the dimarzio pickups are connect to it via quick-connect instead of solder. My new duncans just have the standard wires you'd need to solder. Is there a way to attach quick connectors to these duncans so i can plug them into this board?

Wow I'm really surprised to hear they are using an actual PCB board for this. You should be able to solder it where it would otherwise quick connect. Have a picture or at least model number of the board inside?

Is that two pin what goes back to the pickup? Also, does the same pickup have any other connecters? Typically, each pin correlates to a pickup wire, so hot, lead, ground, etc. If you can figure out which one is which, you should be able to solder direct to the pin.

But I've never seen a board like that before. So best would be to find out what it is and try to find some sort of diagram on it.

EDIT: Ahhh I see now, that board is the sustainer system. I've never worked with one before and had no idea everything hooked into it. Good place to start.

I've got the chance to pick one of these up for 350ish usd - is it worth it at that price?
I've heard good things about those. They stopped using that design after only a couple years, and now shifted Dinkys to Korea (higher end) and Indonesia (lower end) with a AANJ-type heel. Well, except for some of the X series DKs which are using the old block (4 bolt) heel.

For only $350, if it's in good shape it might be a good deal. Depends on the fretwork, etc.
