Got my SL1 back from its stainless steel refret.

Ryan at Equilibrium Guitars here in Boston is a wizard. Their builds are also amazing (but this is the J/C thread).

You may recall I bought this a year ago from a seller in Hong Kong via Reverb. I lowballed him on price and I was surprised he accepted. It was a mess. Now, it's a fantastic player.

You gotta hit that bad boy with some gold hardware and go full Iron Man/hot rod scheme with it

That refret looks fantastic. I recently had one of my KV2's refretted with stainless jumbos as well - transformed it since it came with regular medium frets.

I have considered it! Might be my next mod. Right now the 85X in the bridge is coming out in favor of a 57. I really like the SAX in the neck, so hopefully that solves my last thing I don't like about the guitar. The 85X has this annoying "chirpy" quality to it on palm muted rhythm stuff.

It's pretty damn great. I had the same place do my SL2H as well. Similarly perfect work here. Only negative, the SL1 had a slight fretboard hump on the bass side, which is somewhat common to develop over time. In order to plane the fretboard back to the right radius (12-16") the serial number was sanded off. I still have the hang tag though and that's got it on there.

I'm also not the original owner so it's not like I need to worry about losing out on the warranty or anything.

That ghost flame is on my bucket list, so I officially hate you
How hard was it to track one down?
Not too bad, just had to have a little patience. There is one on Reverb right now but for more than I'd pay. Looks pretty minty though.

Same with mine.... serial # was lost but it's a 22 year old guitar so other than tracking if someone stole it (and I have high def pictures), it's not a huge deal. I thought I had the serial # saved somewhere but I can't find it.

I picked up a Jackson Gus G San Dimas last week...

I really love the guitar.. not a big fan of the locking tuners.. any suggestions for replacements besides the Hipshot with the rail?

Thx!!
hoping to get an answer from you Jacksonites

See if the gotoh sg381 variety have the same mounting screw. Also looks like you'll have to buy a left-handed inline set if that's a reverse headstock. Definitely look at the mechanical drawings and make measurements with calipers before you buy. Might also be worth a look to see if the existing tuners have staggered post heights to avoid string trees.

Someone put one of these up on Reverb. I remember this run that Matt's Music put together, and I think most of the buyers were members here.

Part of me wants to offer the seller a more reasonable amount of $$ for this just to see if they bite:

Had the same feeling on the purple mirror friedman. Replaced them with musicstore fame tuners. Way better.

Ooooooooo!! What is that? Some Fusion DLX or something? Not enough HS guitars out there.

That’s a pretty solid investment piece, seeing as how Jackson is never going to make a USA production 7. If I had a bit of cash to spare I would be on that one.

My roommate in college had a very similar-looking MIJ Charvel except it had dots and a maple fretboard. HS short-scale shredder. Great find!

Yeah... if I wasn't trying to help pay for our wedding and honeymoon right now I might try to get it myself. Oh well. One day, maybe!

I'll probably just wait for a 7 string soloist in the MJ, American, or Concept series though.

Thanks man, I snapped this one up since it's the only short scale I could find with sharkfins. The rest I've seen have dots; there's a reverb listing from 5 years ago with a silver one with fins but a majority of fusions don't have this neck or the gain boost which were a requirement. A guy is selling one with 1vol and dots/rosewood in a sparkle orange that looks great, only it's 3x the price of this one. Screw 80s/90s Jacksons, I'm gonna get more Charvels!

Spotted this unusual pickup ring on a Jackson custom shop soloist recently. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it, aside from knowing I hadn't seen the design before. Anyone know any more about these?
