Hi guys,

I hate myself asking which one to choose. I am the only one to make a decision but I am a bit confused.

Someone is proposing me this one for less than 1,9K

The later is a neighbor super cool guy.

My previous objective was to buy a new one to explore new tunings.

At home I have :
- JPM100 P3 in standard tuning
- RG7620 in std tuning as well
- RG J.Custom in Eb

Any crush? Any feedback?

The J.Custom tuned a full step down has my preference. No possibility to try it.
Far from home and a friend of my brother in law would bring it to me.

The 3120F is easier to finance and close to my home. The owner is a really cool guy with a huge effort on price.

The J.Custom is now 1k€ more than the RG3120F.
I tried the 3120 earlier this afternoon. It’s really close to my RG8420. I love mine but buying roughly the same guitar with very close spec is annoying to me.

The 3120 is the better deal (and, in my opinion, the nicer guitar). If the 7620 is your only 7 and you feel this JC7 could fill a gap, I'd consider it, otherwise I'd just go for the 3120 as there are nicer J Custom 7s out there.
I have to agree here. Unless this particular J. Custom strikes you, it’s not that… eh… striking. While there’s nothing wrong with it per se, it looks like a guitar a friend would show you, and you’d say, “Oh, okay, that’s nice. Now where’s the really cool one you wanted to show me?”

Thats a really nice Prestige though. Nice finish, looks mint and the price is right. I'd go with Prestige.

Whilst I love my J, I think the fact you know the guy selling the Prestige, you're conscious of finances and imo prefer the look of the prestige I'd go with that.

Then if you've still got an itch for another J do some more searching/saving until a cooler one shows up.

I love the RG3120/RG3120F, but I think that's the least desirable finish they made it in. Now, if it were Dark Amber...

I also think the black burst flamed maple top on the JC is the most bland flamed maple top that Ibanez has ever released.

Anyway, if I had to pick between those, then I would go with the RG3120F for the reasons that @Ben Pinkus says. There are cooler J Customs out there.

Those are both sick guitars, and imo, a more desirable finish on the J. Custom and a less desirable finish on the 3120.
However....it's isn't especially uncommon to find used J. Customs sub-$2k. What is extremely uncommon is finding a 3120 under $1k.

I'd bring your neighbor a 6-pack and get the 3120, even though personally I like the J. Custom better. :2c:

Many thanks guys. It’s amazing to read all different considerations.

I am afraid with the JC. I will have no possibility to check it. Just send the money to a friend of mine (who has never seen a guitar) and he will bring it to me in days (months?).

Two beautiful guitars.
My project today : buying the JC, tune the RG7620 in std A or whatever.
