I didn't like Rob when they first got him because his stage presence was so goofy, but I've actually grown to respect him quite a bit. Dude is a crazy good musician, and other than James' right hand, he's probably the most talented member of the band.

When I was younger I had the hots for Rob...and his damn monkey walk. Then again he's STILL fine.

It's neat to see how all the parts to a band work out. Hetfield's riffs and playing are obviously key to their success, but Lars apparently does a lot of the arrangements that get things put together into actual songs, and Kirk has written at least a handful of their iconic riffs. And Cliff seems to have taught Hetfield a bit of theory with presumably influenced his riffing and style.

So while Lars and Kirk can take a lot of flack for whatever their technical abilities might be, the band itself probably wouldn't be what it is without them.

Oh back on topic ugh Pantera is umm Slayer something.

Megadeth had three platinum albums in the 90s - and one of those (Countdown) sold more copies than all of Slayer's 90s output combined. MegaDave was an asshair away from a number one album and Billy Ray Cyrus of all acts kept it from happening. LOL.
fuckin hell I forgot about that one ... and I LOVED Almost Honest back in the day. for some reason I had the idea that Megadeth never went platinum and that's why Dave is always so butthurt about Metallica

but what were the other two albums? I have no idea at all. Who was even in the band at that point? Didn't they write a song specifically to be played at sports games or something?

Rust (Platinum), Countdown (Double), and Youthanasia (Platinum). On the next album (Risk), they did that song Crush 'Em that was used at hockey arenas for a while. Also, they did a track called Gears Of War, but I dunno if it has anything to do with the game.

Nah it's because Jamez can sing, play guitar and write better. Dave is the little cousin of the big four who gets the smaller presents because Grandma likes him less. Why aren't you more famous Dave? You know your cousin just played a show in Antarctica isn't that neat?

Also - Hidden Treasures EP that had Angry Again from Last Action Hero. Also Go to Hell from Bill and Ted‘s Bogus Journey. This has officially become a Megadave thread.

I mean, realistically I could do without any of the big 4 if we're talking death metal instead. Suffocation, Gorguts, Cryptopsy, and Dying Fetus.

Much harder to pick 4 bands for that I think, at least for me. I also think thrash is pretty boring though, and Slayer is fun for about 3 minutes. I can only take so much of the turbo gibberish that is Tom's vocals usually leading into a scream before I start to go cross eyed.

Good four. :agreed:

Though I'd probably throw Cannibal Corpse in the mix, they're sort of the Metallica of Death Metal. Who else? Maybe Death or Obituary? Though maybe that's too much early Florida sound.
