Awfully lofty goal wanting the 7cst as your first 7 string. You'd have better luck cold messaging someone that has one and offering around 5k for it than a wtb thread here

The 8527 is easily available if you're not picky about tops (most are poor for a J.Custom imo) and would be far more affordable than a J. Custom

Any reason you want the 7cst over the others you listed? Only thing I can think of would be the piezos if not for the top and sheer rarity. The 2027XVV would be a fantastic first Ibanez 7 that would be similar

Thank you for the reply and thoughtful advice, 4x3!

I realize the RG7CT and RG7CST are laughable pipedreams for me. But, as Wayne Gretzky once said, "You miss 100% of the RG7CT's you don't ask for." The CST is also on my list because the piezo makes it a more flexible CT with no real downsides. And honestly, if my hunt for the less rare models on my list doesn't work out, I probably would pay 5k for one in excellent condition.

I'm not sure I follow what you said about "The 8527...more affordable than a J. Custom." The 2000-2004 RG8527VV is a J Custom, though? (I'm only interested in a 8527 in VV. The other finishes don't do it for me.)

As for the 2027XVV, I appreciate the tip. That one's not a fit because the piezo is not _that_ important to me and I really want to finally visit the J Custom holy land with whatever I get.

I tried to reply in front of my kids and it came out incoherent. I meant to say the 8527 is a more affordable/attainable J. Custom than the 7cst and being the piezos aren't a dealbreaker, the VV finish would be comparatively easier to come by

As with many, the 7cst is unobtanium for me and I like the aesthetics so much I've gone as far as considering picking up a modded 2027x and having it re-topped and finished to "convert it" to a 7cst. Obviously it's not the same, but it would look and play the part enough for me
