Just ran across this ... I had no idea, so it may be new? The prices are a little high but actually cheaper than some of the Fender ebay sellers (like thestratosphere ,etc...) for genuine Fender parts.

I wonder if they will continue to license to other vendors?

Nice. That's currently the only way to get a USA HSS olympic white with a maple board I believe.
A bit expensive though. Not overly, but still more than an assembled guitar if you add the pickguard and electronics
Been wanting a white USA with maple board and a HSS to put a super distorsion in it for so long I stopped believing they'd made one someday.

now thats a smart move. Might actually get me interested in Fender for once. Doubtful, now that my dream strat is 99% completed, but a good step for Fender.

Surprised it took so long, they've been licensing out for years and years, I guess they figured they might as well join the party.

Yea I wonder if this will have any impact on Warmoth/MightyMite/etc - will they not renew the licensing once it runs out I wonder??

My new strat uses a Warmoth body, and to be honest its something I doubt Fender would ever make (chambered ash body with quilt top).. so I hope thats not the case.

Interesting, however not interested. I lost my faith in fender a LONG time ago. My first Warmoth BLEW me away and it was about 2/3 the price of a new fender american standard, only it had my custom specs.

My Warmoth was nice but nothing a well made Fender couldn't beat. IMO, the USA neck it replaced was as "good" it just didn't have the right profile.

A fully assembled Warmoth, when all costs are considered, are almost as expensive as a high-end Strat nowadays, anyway.

Yeah, those neck prices are pretty high. But I thought about a warmoth and with my options it wouldn't be much cheaper (well, the USA necks)

    Very interesting.

I doubt it. They make a mint on licensing.

This is pretty cool. I'm also wondering how this will affect Warmoth. I've never been interested enough in them to buy and assemble a guitar, but it's always seemed like a cool idea...

This. Warmoth is not the value people make them out to be considering you don't want anything exact and customized.

After hearing this, I've been gassing for building a custom strat all day, especially knowing I'll comfortably be playing on my own personal MIA strat. Added it all up - yeah, its just as expensive (if not more) as a production MIA strat. I decided to save up to grab a $500~ MIM strat (my first strat!) and just piece on the MIA parts as I buy them. Did some research, and it should all work out in the end.

The question is HSS or SSS #decisionsdecisions

I kinda hope this kills what people like the stratosphere do. I don't like nice guitars getting tore apart to make more money off the parts. Diablo guitars on ebay tears apart old ibanez guitars to make a quick buck. I don't respect that game.
