Well, nice to meet the new crew. Things have been running great since you guys took over so far; optimistic for the future.
When you say software updates, are we looking at anything that may change the look and feel of the forum; or are we mostly talking about patching and back-end optimization? Just curious. Cheers.

We’re here to support the ongoing operation and growth of SevenString
I'd be lying if I said putting the word "growth" right in the opening doesn't make me nervous. This might be one of the few places left on the internet where the community actually does come before the business, at least from the perspective of a user, and any kind of "growth" mindset from ownership presents a pretty big risk to that. We'll see, I guess.

That's just part of a fun running gag between some of us members and the mods, no actual policies about threads exceeding 22 pages. :)

Oh, it's no gag...It's actually happened here on this very site. I hope this New ownership can end this online atrocity that's happening here. Hopefully the injustice will end soon...

First its moving the site to our servers, updating our support emails and contact info and the ads, ideally less of them. You may notice some very short hiccups from things like couldflare security but so far on other sites they have lasted less than a minute.

Growth only means you are not talking to the same group of people forever. Getting more people interested in playing 7 string and getting better at playing seven string means the forum is active it grows and you have people to swap gear with in a bigger pool.

Nah this is an ongoing joke of trying to get basically meme threads over 22 pages before we close them
Well the cats out of the bag now...
Was hoping to put the new Team through its paces by having them research and read all these threads.

But seriously though, if the new Team really wants to a right a wrong on this Forum, they ought to look into the threads concerning Djod....

I appreciate you saying that, but at the same time, you're a publicly traded company, with investors to please and all the other baggage that comes with being a big ol' company, so there's no way the word "growth" isn't going to raise a red flag for me. Just like when you get hired some place and they assure you we're all a big family here.

Growth means one thing when you're talking about an old school forum run by "some guy" that nobody knows, that a bunch of niche-interest weirdos come to for shitposts, and it means an entirely different thing when it's a "digital platform" owned by a public company fostering thousands of "communities" around e-commerce and ads.

I welcome a demonstration of how wrong I am though. If this place improves as a result, then I'm all for it, I just wouldn't put money on it today.

I have seen this on some other sites before. after x number of pages the conversation auto-closes.

Here it’s just a stupid inside joke that isn’t so inside. The mods will try to shut down certain threads before they hit 22 pages, though these threads just tend to be meme threads about Kiesel guitars.

It’s come to my attention in another thread that VerticalScope is not/may not be related to the same entity that bought SSO from Alex about a year ago (Enthused Digital). If this is correct, I have a request:

Prior to Enthused Digital, we had a Politics and Current Events (P&CE) subforum that was one of the few places to discuss politics and current events civilly online, in part because the mods had the power to ban trouble makers. When Enthused Digital took over, the P&CE subforum was scrapped because the mods didn’t have the power to ban trolls and other poorly behaving members and Alex didn’t want to deal with it himself (he was still admin at the time). Now that the mods have been re-empowered to do their jobs, can we bring back the P&CE subforum, ideally resurrected from the backups so that the old threads are present and intact?

I appreciate the intel. I am new here and every site has its personality, and I dont mean the membership exclusively. Every site has unique plugins and features.

Ideally to shut them down when they are at 21.99 pages

We definitely have serious discussion threads that are over 22 pages, the joke meme threads are the ones that are more a game than anything else. You can usually tell them because 22 pages is actually in the thread title
