Speaking of teardrops, Alex Wade sig is an eye-watering $2199

You know why that is? It's because I was thinking to myself "I'm getting me that no matter the cost!". I regret that now.

*Edit* Oops false alarm, thought we were talking about the Andy LaRocque sig! No doubt that'll be $2599 or something.

Never played a richlite board, but how does it compare to Ebony?

I love Richlite. It has that uniform black look that people want from ebony and feels comparable. Nice and smooth. Easy to maintain. The only people likely to have issues with it are the sorts who spend more time obsessing over "tone" than playing and who believe that even stuff like hardware color can "affect the midrange" or fucking whatever. Those people should be ignored.

Shit. The CS-II is pretty much perfect, even has the wider 43mm nut. RIP my wallet. JM-I is pretty awesome too, love that they moved the volume knob.

LR-II looks nice, but needs a TOM/ST bridge.
Silverburst EC-256 looks nice, too bad the IRL fretboards on them usually look hella dry.
JM-1 looks KILLER without the mismatched binding ETA: why does it have white binding on the neck but black binding on the headstock
Tuners on the MT-1 are goofy looking.
Black binding on the maple 'board M-1000 is 100% unnecessary.:noplease:

Lol I'm so glad I didn't buy a M201. The gloss version looks a million times better
I stopped looking at the indo/china/Vietnam wherever below the deluxe series is made because somewhere around 2019 they moved the tuners closer to the edge of the headstock so they stick out way more than the normal blade headstock. The washer on the tuner button should line up with the edge of the headstock.

Ok excitement has chilled down, it looks less fantastic now, especially considering it's a 50th anniversary thing. There are still a couple of models I dig, which is far more than what other brands have put out lately.

I should not love this as much as I do. Simple and clean.

Do people really want that from ebony though? To me richlite looks like black plastic and ebony really doesn't. If ebony did look like that I imagine I would hate it. But it looks and feels like wood so it's alright.

One of my LPC’s has richlite and it is so fucking easy to maintain, doesn’t collect finger gunk like ebony or other woods. I love it for that reason alone.

Have you seen/played a Richlite board in person? I've owned a few guitars with Richlite and it neither feels like nor looks like plastic. It's a paper product and feels fibrous like paper does. It also has a bit of texture to it that's easier to see in person.

So far I’m more impressed than I was with Ibanez’s lineup. I need those Mick Thompson and Alex Wade sigs 🥵
