Replacing the tubes won’t invalidate the warranty. Tubes aren’t meant to last for the duration of the warranty. Mesa only warranties their tubes for 6 months I believe.

Not saying I necessarily think that’s the issue, but worth noting.

There are some at the local Sam Ash. And therein lies my dilemma...

Mesa will yank your warranty if you don't use Mesa tubes.

I know they say that, but as long as you use tubes in spec and hang on to your original tubes it’s not like they have any way of proving you used a non Mesa labeled tube.

Or you could use Mesa tubes.

Yeah, I just don't want to blow 175 dollars on replacing tubes that haven't been used all that much.

It doesn't help that with 6L6s, Rectos are very scooped. EL34s (I like JJ E34Ls a lot) or KT77s are a good option - I'm actually not going to suggest KT88s here (though that would be sick) because that's $250 of tubes if not more.

So then it's scenario #1 of my other edit, in which case I think you're asking the wrong question which is why you're getting annoyed with the answers. All the info you put muddies the water a little and so you have people trying to help you out with things that you don't need/want help with.

You're essentially looking for validation on the Orange, so IMO the question should just be I'm pretty sure I want a Rockerverb, will it do this:

Yes an Orange will do that. A Rockerverb would definitely work or even an OR. If you can grab a used one from GC it's the best way to try something out with your rig because that's the only way you're going to know for sure if it's what you want.

I had the Rivera K-Tre and the fx loop volume works as an attenuator, see if yours has that. It didn't mess up my tone and allowed me to get the cranked tone I wanted at shows when mic'd.

You have your gain at 1, and wonder why you have no pick attack?

The Triple has tons of headroom and is cold biased, you are not going to get anything from the power section at all.

Try a JCM 800, HBE, or Quickrod.

If you want headroom and a massive sound, you want a jcm800 2203 running kt88/6550's.

Also yes experiment with your gain knob. You may be surprised.

I liked the Budda Superdrive I used to have better than any JCM. I'd get another one of those if that's what I was looking for. I like where the mids sit in that amp a lot better. I don't like the way the Mesa sounds with the gain much past 1 o'clock for what I'm doing. So that's where it stays. Sounds great for other stuff.

Sounds like you're getting the orange.
