Also JFC look at how many pickups Satch had.
Still not as much as Vai. But then again, he was using the same PAF Pro / Fred combo for a good 2 or so decades before releasing more sigs.

Both Satch and Vai are extremely picky with their tone and signature gear. Hell one of the only reasons Satch released a Rail sig was he resisted 24 frets forever.

What is with people bitching because something new comes out? Seriously who cares, if it doesn't appeal to you don't buy it. I have zero interest in these but complaining because another option is available is ridiculous :2c:
2 reasons,
1. Because none of this shit is ever really new.
2. Complaining can be fun.

Eh it is so easy to make minor changes to wind / wire type / magnet / spacers and have a pickup sound different I'd say 1 is probably just factually not true (unless DiMarzio has started doing the Arcane thing like the 13 / Mr Scary)

Which of these scenarios is more likely?

1) they've discovered some ground breaking way to alter the laws of physics to significantly make a pickup totally different from all the other pickups in their lineup

2) they're using an endorsement, taking an existing pickup, putting a graphic on it and trying to get a quick boost in sales.

I'm firmly in the camp of pick your resonant peak, pick your preferred output level, choose your eddy current, be done with pickups you're wasting your time.

Exactly this. Pickup marketing is so full of wrong information and literal snake oil that it is not even funny anymore. Most of it boils down to "we based it on a 30 year old pickup design, changed 1 or 2 things slightly so the output and high-pass changes and give it a cool name"

I love the Titans, and like having different pickup sets in different guitars, so this is a win for me. Assuming they come out with a 7-string version eventually for the bridge pickup.

Looks like the cover and bobbin offerings have been fleshed out a bit.

You can never have too many pickups that all do the same thing. The only reason some people think they do is just because their credit cards are maxed out.

Ya'll are so mad about the covers that the rage blinded you to the color choices for the bobbins. Right under the price there are probably twenty squares that each offer a color option, and most of them offer a traditional pickup without the cover...

As far as whether or not pickups make a difference, yes, they do. But anyone expecting that a pickup swap is going to give them a night and day, life-altering difference is going to be disappointed. Like most things you can change on a guitar, they make small differences that can add up to something more readily apparent when done in conjunction with one-another.

And who cares if they have a dozen signature pickups? As far as I'm aware, they've each had two iterations, I believe. Misha had the Juggernatus/Ragnaroks, Mark had the Alpha and Omega/Scourge and Scarlets, and Jake's had the Titans and these, right? Hardly an amount that'd require each guy to have a separate shelf to house them all...

Possibly because the options didn't exist a few weeks ago? I also noticed they added them. Still waiting to see word on the street if the neck pickup is worth trying in a Caparison.

Yep this is exactly what the deal was. Only offered covered. As said right above his post, they just very recently added new options.

Guess I'm the only one who likes the "tire tracks" on the new pickup. I generally dislike covered humbuckers because they simply look so plain. At least this one has something going on.

Ah. Guess I jumped the gun  After over a dozen posts of complaining I guess I got impatient.

I was listening to him talk about the neck pickup - supposedly it's very close to a Chopper anyway. Not sure how different it's gonna be or if that'll warrant the wait, honestly. He also mentioned that the bridge is only a very slight variation of the Titan, so I'll probably just stick with the Titan I've got if I wanna reinstall it at some point.

The neck pickup is the only one out of the set that interests me. Neodymium magnet, and something that combines the Chopper and the Cruiser sounds interesting to me. The magnet choice makes it unique enough in DiMarzio's line up to make me curious, at the very least.

Huh - wasn't aware of the magnet choice - didn't dig too deep into the spec. That's definitely more interesting.

F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. man!
You really have to wonder how much clarity (see: high end) somebody needs. "I need to hear every note ring out in the chord." ...okay? You will as long as your gain isn't cranked.

I really don't get it, man.
