Most people asking for neck humbuckers seem to want "bright" and "clear". Well I want the opposite. I've got my bridge and middle pickups for bright and clear. What I want from a neck pickup is something with plenty of bass and mids but not much in the way of highs. I'm talking creamy high gain leads and mellow jazz clean tone.

    Any suggestions?

The Gibson 490R is the darkest neck pickup I have ever used. The Dimarzio Liquifier is also a bit on the dark side, but also compressed with a lot of output, so it might not be jazzy enough.

In general, a moderate wound alnico II magnet neck pickup is most likely to fit your description. I will also note that you can get some neck pickups to sound more like this by adjusting the distance to the strings. Closer will get more like this in my experience.

    Awesome, thanks.

I suppose I could always put a cap and small resistor across it to act like an always-turned-down tone knob.

I've liked the sound of a 59 in the past though so I'll have to try that again.

Actually I think I have a liquifire somewhere. I forgot I bought one to go with my crunch lab. Which I also forgot I had. Well. I'd better get this installed somewhere.

Definitely a Liquifire :yesway: super smooth and fairly mid-forward, great for shredding
