I was just thinking about some of Chris's builds on here so I went to his site and found this:

    http://www.chrislarkinguitars.com/resources/newsletters/last-clc-newsletter.html

He has had cancer for some time now and has officially stopped building.:(

I loved seeing his build threads on here, he seemed so full of joy all the time and it showed that he really loved what he did. From every thread people that interacted with him talked about what an awesome guy he was and how positive the whole experience was, which by SSO standards is a bit of a unicorn. I really wish I could've gotten a build with him but alas, I'll have to keep my eye out for a used one floating around one day.

Chris, you'll be sorely missed.

Man that's crazy!!! Chris Larkin is one of the first builders I discovered when I knew custom guitar building was even a thing. His work helped inspire me to start building, back in the days when all I had was a jig saw and a power drill... I can't tell you how many hours I spent sifting through the instruments gallery on his website, the 9 string bass and the Rio ASAD especially were just mesmerizing. Very sad to see this indeed... I hope to own one of his instruments one day. It'll probably be my favorite one if I ever do.:(:(:(:( So he was a member here on SSO too? Must have been before my time, I don't remember seeing his threads...

I'm gonna continue building in his memory, thankful that I was able to see such beautiful pieces, even if only from my laptop on the other side of the world. Think I may get out in the garage and make some saw dust today in fact.

Don't believe he was a member but he sent detailed pics and explanations (and funny quips) to customers on here that reposted them. Among some of my favourite build threads by far.

So, actually it looks like he passed away back in August of 2018.
