So I seen this guitar posted on axe palace and am really surprised no one has made a thread or commented on it. Searched and couldn't find much on it. I have to say it is just lovely and everything I need! But god that price is steep.

Does japan really have to get all of the coolest shit. The fact that there's only this one in the US is just a tragedy.

Not really into the aesthetics or switching scheme, but it's nice seeing JCRG7s without the ToL inlays.

That's nice, but seems like the custom stuff always gets the worst tops. You move one step in the right direction, you move further in some other.

But yea, those two inlay dots like...You thought we were going to be 100% clean and classy? Pfft.

Top doesn't look bad, it's just the burst is so dark and thick. If they're going to do tight flame, they need to go lighter on the stain and burst.

The best tops always seem to go to the Japanese spot models from retailers. I wonder if they get to choose thier tops.

Have you seen the RGR8527 would love one of those. I love reverse headstocks but now with the CITES law makes it hard to get one to the UK and a ton of cash for import duty would make it way to expensive.

I mean... it's nice and all, but who in their right mind would pay $4k for those specs? It's a 4A top... I can get a ridiculous custom with a 5A top for that price.

Would look better with them offset but I guess the goal was for it to be mostly specs you can't get elsewhere.

I actually really like the control configuration.

I'm sure it's a great guitar, but it visually it doesn't do a damn thing for me. Reminds me of a Schecter finish. I'm not an ebony snob by any means, or even a fan, but for the price I'd expect a darker cut of Ebony. I appreciate that they didn't dye it, but it doesn't work well with the body, IMO. I can't really tell from the dark photos, but does this not even have a matching headstock? Come on..

These have matching headstocks, the pics here are just crazy dark.

Eh. The "#A" scheme is completely arbitrary anyway. The Axe palace runs tend to have exceptionally nice tops it seems though.

I'm not saying 4A tops aren't nice, but there is still a pretty major difference between a 4A and 5A top. Also my original point was the cost of only a 4A top.

You guys are tough. I think the top looks great.

It does seem a bit pricey, but he had to import it so that made it more expensive for him.

And yeah, you could get an ESP USA or Suhr Modern for about the same or cheaper than this. But it's not like this would be an inferior guitar. I've had some J-Customs and they are as nice as the best guitars you can find IMHO.

Is there though? I'd probably agree if this was about quilted maple but I'd be hard pressed to see a difference between a 4A and a 5A piece of wood unless i see them right next to each other. Maybe it's just me but I feel the further you go up, the smaller the difference becomes.

Tough crowd. I'm not really a fan of the control scheme (you can have my blade switches when you pry them from my cold, dead hands), but I love everything else about it.

You guys are seriously missing my point.... This Ibanez looks absolutely fantastic. It's a beautiful top and I like the configuration. With that said, it's nowhere near worth the price tag.

I think it's probably just the price. Even inside of the J. Custom branding, there's still a lot of really compelling competition at that pricepoint, let alone what you can get outside of it.
So while I'd be absolutely over the moon with this guitar for sure, if I had $4k burning a hole in my pocket, this probably isn't where I would spend it.

As much as I lust over a J custom, this is sadly the truth. Likely a tricked out Padalka or Mayones for me.
