Satire is long dead. It's soul is gone, all that's left is what were bones, calcified into stone where it once laid.
I might be in this thread somewhere saying Trump's plan for the economy was to fire all high level federal jobs that required advanced degrees and decades climbing the ladder in the appropriate departments, and send them to work on the assembly line.

That was sort of supposed to be satire but well, here we are.

My problem with Darkstar is the same problem I have with many of his ilk:

Come in, spout some shit about triggering people, act like he'd won an Oscar before Leo DiCaprio, and then just come back every so often to do the same.

I can talk to people with conservative ideology and counter their points, IF they're trying to bring points that they legit believe in, regardless of how fucked they are. If you want to have a conversation, I'll have a conversation, bring sources to back up my viewpoints, (even if I am getting fucking tired of hiding, not being able to be myself, and then be told by shitlibs moving goalposts and conservatives alike constantly that trans people existing isn't a priority).

But if you're just going to come in to troll, be a shitbag, and offer almost nothing, well, you're about as important to me as a weed I just killed on the side of my house.

I will say this: at least conservatives let you know right away who they are, typically. I know where I stand with them, whereas it took until just a few years ago to realize where I stood with liberals who pretended to give a fuck for years by engaging in and supporting rainbow capitalism. In that, I do agree with conservatives that that shit needs to stop, just for entirely different reasons, rather than the fucking liberal who's screaming for LGBTQIA+ rights online (and many of them aren't even doing that anymore since they found out they don't actually have to care about minorities), but still reads Harry Potter and is essentially just blue MAGA and their leaders do fuckall for minorities other than trying to short term pander to them so they can get more votes and money.

And fuck Alex.

Some much needed topical levity and prime nuggets of humor here, FWIW

You know I'd like to consider the difference between liberals/conservatives to be some political leaning, but then can you tell me why at any conservative rally/protest, the signs are so dumb? Message aside, why do liberals have the stranglehold on clever messaging?

This is so dumb. So tech bro brain. So little consideration for why things are done the way they are.

I don't know if this is the case but it also depends on the data needs. If you need a sort of time-locked backup, like every year you backup the state of a machine exactly how it is, and so you can roll back to 2019, or 2020, or 2021, etc state, -- major changes between each state, give you something to go back to in case of catastrophic failure -- then tape is really good. If you want backups for more frequent edits, and things are changing all over the place in small ways and you want to potentially rollback because some specific thing got messed up, then disk with versioning control could be cheaper overall even if the medium is more expensive. I don't know the specifics, and it's not out of character for DOGE to ignorantly change something that's working and call it a win, but it worries me when I click through to a massive thread of people who aren't aware that the use case matters.

Education seems like a politically incorrect answer, but...

Who else is going to sell/already sold off all their stocks (well, US stocks specifically)? I see no possible chance of it getting back to this level in the next 4 years, if not the next four decades. I want to buy a house in the next four years - it seems like insanity NOT to sell, even today, unless you don't think you'll need money for decades. Fortunately Trump is screwing over his base and telling them to all take pride in NOT selling so it gives the rest of us some time.

The new conservative line is going to be taking pride in not being able to afford anything or have a job. Cultist monkeys.

Point taken, yet the conservative messaging is effective at turning out the conservative vote or we wouldn’t be in the situation we’ve been in for the past nine years. So if it’s effective, is it truly dumb or just highly targeted?

If you sell now, you’re taking a loss. If you don’t need the money now, it’s probably better to hold, or even buy, now that prices are down.

With these tariffs being so much higher than was anticipated, I would love to know if the SEC is investigating everyone that had any part in their creation. There is no doubt in my mind that the tariff crafters would have know the markets would crash. If they sold beforehand, I want them in jail.

In a sane country, the SEC, or like, any number other of legal enforcement organizations woulda' had Tangerine-Turd behind bars 10x over for the litany of shit he's been out-in-the-open guilty of... and that woulda' likely been long before he had the audacity to dip his shriveled raisinettes into the political arena.

But, unfortunately we live here.
