I must not be the first person to bring this up But there has never been a more vindicated guy

As someone nearly twice your age, I gotta say that my thinking isn’t much different. I have mapped out how to deal with retirement absent SS or investments in worst case, but cheap gaming definitely plays a part in the happiness aspect.I'll admit that new Donkey Kong game does look solid, and I'm not much of a platformer guy. At 23 years old, I've already resigned myself to never retiring at the rate things are going, so they might as well leave me with fucking Donkey Kong.
Sounds like a power metal cover of a Cannibal Corpse song.Urethral spelunking adventure?

I heard something interesting today, which I hadn't thought of. Mark Cuban was telling people to stock up on necessities from big box stores before the tariffs kick in and raise prices. That doesn't seem like the best advice, given the toilet paper depletion of the Covid era, BUT, he made a solid poinit after that. He said that companies would use the tariffs as an excuse to raise prices - even if their product wasn't affected by it. That is 100% believable, given what happened with inflation, and the price hikes using that as an excuse post covid. And there's 0% chance they'll bring those prices back down out of magnanimity. The only thing gonna bring prices down is competition, and the tariffs provide an excellent screen to effectively collude and price fix among companies.
In related news, I'll be curious what happens with guitars. Nick (Axe Palace) posted today that prices are going up immediately, and it's a good idea to buy now. Someone asked if they place an order, and the guitar arrives after the tariffs are in effect, with the original price be honored, and Nick said he didn't know, because a 30% price hike is significant for him. So we could see a situation where people who have guitars arriving from overseas are suddenly too expensive to complete the order, and people either lose money, or the shop has to eat it. Either way, MIK, MIJ, MIC (especially) guitars are gonna get potentially expensive for anyone that bought one, but hasn't yet taken delivery.

R9s looking a very good value proposition now.
Tariffs shouldn’t be retroactive, so any inventory already in the country shouldn’t be subjected to them. So you should be able to go “buy” the car today and delay the final paperwork until sometime during the coming week and still avoid the finance issue.Well I caved and bought a new phone. It was in my plans for later this year anyway, and I'm not interested in paying multiple hundreds more than they already are now. Still on the fence about going out and getting a car today as well, but that's really a lot of money to part with and I'd have to finance all of it since I can't access my savings for a couple business days
They've a big ol' stock pile of wood in the US at leastShiiiit, those woods aren’t American, Gibson will probably go up too along with all the other American guitars.
Directly? Unlikely. Indirectly, they will probably raise prices in step with the impending hyperinflationI said this earlier, but if consumers pivot to buy more american products, this means demand goes up, and so do prices.
I had a practical question: if I buy Toontrack software (from Sweden, I think), do I pay a tariff?
Both, probably. Lots of gear flooding the market at prices nobody is willing to pay for the same reason that the gear is flooding the market.I assume all of this will result in the used market becoming more unaffordable as well? Or perhaps people will panic-sell their extra shit since they're worried about their overall net value?

Yeah, I have no idea. The credit card processing would be US?I wonder if setting VPN to Sweden would be a loophole.
That’s idiotic. Just do what Nintendo’s doing and raise the price on physical instead of digital to encourage it.From what I've heard, at least in gaming, that tariffs will affect digital games to make up for how difficult it may be to get physical copies out there or something along those lines to make up for costs.
