Is Musk even a nerd though?

Elon’s just a clever guy with great foresight and great luck who saw opportunity and took it and had it pay off for him.

How many actual nerds would let someone else near their online gaming accounts? Let alone actually play on them???!!!???

He probably pays other guys to paint his Warhammer miniatures for him too;)

Nerd? ROFL.

Exactly. He's a business guy. Business guy and nerd almost never go hand-in-hand. You have a Steve Jobs sort of guy, who, sure, Steve used to do all these nerdy things back in the day, visiting like HP and trying to code on their machines, but as soon as he could offload that to Woz, he did. Woz built the first Apple circuits in his spare time while working I think at HP full-time just because he likes that kind of stuff. That's a nerd.

This was such a huge relief. I was optimistic, but then I was kind of optimistic about Kamala, too! But yeah, huge blowout. Called in 45 minutes.

He actually offered everyone in WI who signed a petition "against activist judges" $100, and that was on top of the $25 million. I am guessing he's calling his bank now to cancel all those checks now that he flushed all that money down the toilet and got a blow-out loss. This race was NOT expected to be this much of a blowout, she was polling way lower than our last supreme court liberal (Janet, who won by like 11 points) relative to the conservative candidate.
I don't think we should understate the importance of last night for a couple reasons.

First, beyond the simple win here and the fact the GOP will no longer be able to gerrymander Wisconsin into a safely red state, as they had planned... Elon went up to bat HARD for the Trump team in the final weeks of this race. I have a buddy whose firm was doing this race, and their most recent internals had her at +3. I haven't seen a final margin but last I saw, she was closer to +15. Laypeople may not be looking at it like this, but strategists are, and there's a clear "Musk is toxic" message here. His intervention likely helped Crawford, not hurt her.

Beyond that, in Florida... The GOP did win comfortably, with margins around +15. But, five months ago when the last election was held, these were more like +30 seats. Democrats picked up a 15 point swing in five months. there's a LOT of GOP seats - I remember seeing a Nate Silver piece on this yesterday where I think he pegged it at around 95 - where the Republicans won by 20 points or less last month, and the message from last night is, those seats are all in play in 2026.

Republican strategists are probably feeling queasy right now, if they're paying attention.

I'm still completely disgusted by the MSM seemingly sticking their head in the sand.

Was trying to research this yesterday, i went through four or five different articles looking for poll numbers and they all said "razor thin" "toss up" no numbers, and when I finally found numbers it was her ahead by 7% which is not razor thin. Then after the actual election and the results were in, the top of CNN instead was a headline about GOP solidifying their lead in the House.

Trump crackdown on descent really has these guys spooked to the point they wont even cover the objective news anymore. The harder they make it to find the truth about what's going on, the more of an uphill battle we're going to have to try to defeat them. Right now our gains are pretty much the result of sheer determination and the unlikability of Elon Musk.

I agree to a point... bt the charitable interpretation is there's also a Heisenbergan element here.

We see what looks a lot like the beginnings of a blue wave. It's occuring because Democratic voters are pissed, and Republican voters are a mix of complacent and maybe a little uneasy with some of what they're seeing, particularly on trade and Elon. The fastest way to squelch that wave is to point it out, and get the GOP to start using fear of a blue wave to fire up their base.

But, yeah... t's a little TOO quiet.

I for one support Musk continuing to support the Republican/Trumplican cause, because he's the only thing that has the potential to swing public opinion back toward sanity. Even the Trump worshippers are starting to publicly question if Musk is the right guy to be playing god with the government. Well, most of them.

There is a dude in the office here looking to buy a new car and telling anybody who asks that Tesla is looking like the best possible choice because it's so cool, and he really wants to show his support to Musk and Trump. But that dude's been an asshole for as long as I've known him, which is going on twenty-four years now. One of them quiet as a mouse but would stab you in the back the second you turn around dudes. What's sad is that people like him exist out there in numbers large enough to register.

Yeah, the good news is that Trump is the infallible one, so all losses need to fall on someone else. Instead of having to wait for Republicans to grow a conscience about what he's doing, we can wait until he's the convenient fall guy. Which is looking now-ish.

Yeah, I maybe made this point a little too obliquely, but if Elon has become a liability, then the last thing we want to do is make that super clear to republican strategists, at least until he's become a liability to Trump himself.

It's going to be interesting if Musk does become enough of a liability to Trump for Trump to consider turning on him. Because there's more than just a whisper of hints that Musk owns Trump outright in some way, whether it be blackmail material or just literal monetary exchange. Will Trump turn on Musk if Musk has the right kind of leverage against him to strike back? If so, will whatever Musk has on him be enough to turn Republican base opinion? Or is the worship so fully set that nothing can turn that tide?

I don't know -- I seem to recall some midterms or spat of local elections a while ago, and all the people Trump endorsed were surprise losers or doing way worse than expected, and everyone came out saying that this was the definitive sign and republican campaigners are surely taking note. Now we have Trump round 2. It's great that Elon's efforts failed or even seemed to hurt, but voters' memories and affections are fleeting.
