Seems beyond his comprehension, but has anybody floated that the last couple times we were heavy on manufacturing came on the coattails of a major military conflict and perhaps the goal is to provoke one?
I feel like the "Musk briefed on China war plans" thing came and went pretty quickly and no one really said "war with China plans?" out loud

The courts have set a deadline for the return of the Maryland man mistakenly sent to El Salvador. The Trump administration is not arguing that the man was sent there in error. They are arguing that the Courts cannot force the Executive Branch to engage in foreign diplomacy and that by doing so would set a terrible precedent. One the one hand, Trump does not give two shits about the division of power and does whatever he wants. The simple fact is the courts became involved because he showed no interest in bringing the man back. On the other hand, I do not believe there has been a situation where a standing president can be ordered to engage with a foreign power. This is a strange one.
I haven't been following this enough from actual news source, but isn't this something every person in the USA, regardless of skin color or citizenship, should be worried about? Like, what's stopping anyone from being deported on the rapid express to Salvador or wherever and the admin just going, "haha, whoops, anyways...."

EDIT: I think SSO needs to start looking at their codebase. This "refocus off the edit window every time the ads auto-refresh" thing is really getting aggravating to type through.
I mean, I disagree with a lot of what you say before this - similarly, I feel like your posts often have a "nothing the Democrats ever could do would be enough" note to them, and I'm very much a "don't let perfect be the enemy of better" person - but, holy shit, mostly I post during downtime at work, where I have an add blocker running, but when I log on from home... it's almost unusable.

Nothing.

The fact it wasa temporary stay rather than a decision against is I guess a plus, ad it IS a super murky legal question that should never even come up because it never should have happened in the first place...

....but yeah, if the Trump administration can deport anyone without due process for whatever reason, they can deport everyone. This guy should never have been deported, and yet... here we are. By saying they lack jurisdiction to do anything about it, but also not doing a thing to fix the broken process that got us here...

Hey, look at this, we can agree on something!

Honestly, I'd just like to see the Democrats put up a fight like, you know, ever. They don't. They roll over at every damned turn and almost always with the talking points about being good citizens, and reaching across the aisle, and blah blah blah, while working with people literally screaming for their blood in the streets. So, yeah, it's not that nothing the Democrats *could* do would be enough. I'd just like to see them do *SOMETHING*. Put up a little struggle. Flop around like a fish out of water. Don't just lay there and take it and then go, "But our hands were tied."

Who else is going to sell/already sold off all their stocks (well, US stocks specifically)? I see no possible chance of it getting back to this level in the next 4 years, if not the next four decades. I want to buy a house in the next four years - it seems like insanity NOT to sell, even today, unless you don't think you'll need money for decades. Fortunately Trump is screwing over his base and telling them to all take pride in NOT selling so it gives the rest of us some time.

The new conservative line is going to be taking pride in not being able to afford anything or have a job. Cultist monkeys.
I'm 23 so I'm buying. I don't own anything yet, and probably will never own anything. Still live at home and only really pay for insurance and my phone. Might as well try to give myself a chance and hope this blows over in the future because otherwise I'm not so sure I like where I'll be at in the future.

I don't think this is anything specific, just the very detailed strategy America has been enacting since WWII to build defences in the East China Sea. Protecting Taiwan etc.

I mostly agree, but the article does use the language "...Musk would be briefed on secret plans for a potential war with China at the Pentagon in March, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal." It also mentioned the caveat that "despite still touching on China, the conversation didn’t include any classified information." I imagine there's a lot of spying going on in that Tesla factory in Shanghai...

The military has plans for war with everyone as part of their general readiness. I wouldn’t read too much onto that itself.

Musk being involved in briefings, however…

  • Geographic Distribution of Racist Searches: Beyond the Deep South, regions such as upstate New York, western Pennsylvania, and eastern Ohio also exhibited high rates of racist search queries. This finding challenges the assumption that racial animus is predominantly confined to certain geographic areas.
As someone that grew up in upstate New York, I did not need a web-data-based analysis to challenge the assumption that racism was over.

Well looks like it was bad information, because it's April now and still no war.

Cool, cool.........
It's a partial victory for both sides tbh. Trump insisted anything that slows the deportation and specifically granting any individual hearings/appeals would ruin the process, and that's exactly what the decision requires.
