Anyone ever try or own one? Please talk about it! I'm bored lol.
It's edgy but man I absolutely love the looks of this thing! Especially with the matching cab. If the cenobytes from hellraiser were in a band this is 100% what they'd use lol.

I think it was based on the Randall Thrasher. Thommann was clearing stock and was selling them cheap but I didn't take the plunge. In general Scott Ian has said he doesn't go for super saturated sounds. That doesn't mean it won't have enough gain but the looks might not match the actual sound.

IIRC it's a slightly tweaked Thrasher. It has some differences on the lead channel tweaked to his tastes but I'm not sure the main voicing differences. But it's supposed to be in the same ballpark as the Randall Thrasher.

Some dude on this forum called Trashgreen has one..,

ohh wait that would be me

The Randall Thrasher was the Basic while the Nullifier and Satan where variations with the Nullifier being closest to the Thrasher.

The nullifier has more high freqency gain on tap. The Thrasher sounds dryer while the Nullifier has more dimension in it's sound. Both are tight sounding amps but they do have plenty of low-end. I was told by the Randall staff at Frankfurt Musikmesse in 2015 that the Nullifier is tailored towards an JCM 800. The 3 gain controls obviously will take your tone shaping a lot further..

I have been using the Randall MTS and Synergy modules for quite a while now but I actually used the Nullifier just recently for some of my lastest music tracks.

I used the Nullifier on basicly all my videos on my YouTube channel from oct. 2014 until end of 2017 including numerous Musikmesse videos which has backgound music tracks. Her is just a few of them:

Dark Fuzz like tones with the Emulated out:

Joe Delaney playing through the Nullifier at Musikmesse 2015:

Thrash metal tones through the Randall 412ISO cab:

Raw rock tones through the Randall 412ISO cab:

Few years old pic but this is still my amp collection:

@Trashgreen lucky bugger!!
Ahh man the V2 as well!!
Thanks for the vids! Sounds like it def has that classic randall grindy mid crunchiness!
If you ever want to sell it hit me up!! 😄
How would you say the lowend compares to something like a dual recto?

I don't own a dual recto and I havn't played one for a long time but I do have the Randall MTS Treadplate module which does the recto tones, so compared to that the Nullifier is tighter but you can get in the recto territory by maxing the low freqency gain and rolling the high freqency gain off, gets the character of strong mids/lows.

Dang, that looks sweet! What the heck is even going on with Randall these days, their tube amps were a good deal for a bit then got crazy expensive for seemingly no reason, then I stopped paying attention lol.

they basically went out of business and people started trying to scalp their amps for stupid money.

I’m not talking second hand. Like 2 years ago I got a Randall RD1 for like 199 or maybe less from MF (can’t remember the exact price but it was for sure under $200). Like 3 weeks later they wanted $650 for them. The RD50 was like 1200 or something totally insane.

Looks like it’s still that way.

Yeah, I saw some RD45’s for insane prices and shook my head because the one I had was legitimately one of the worst amps I’ve ever owned. I have heard from a lot of people that the RD1, RD5, and RD100 were the superior versions. Makes sense that the prices were due in part to scalping in the case of the 45’s- they were lacking in almost every department.

Interesting, had an RD1 and it was awesome, had an RVC combo which is pretty much an RD5 GC exclusive combo and I loved them both. A dude I know had a 45 and it never sounded as good to me, I kinda just thought he had a shitty cab or something.

idk why the 45 didn't sound as good. i know the 100 had 3rd channel that was tighter and higher gain, but no clue why the lower wattage versions would possibly sound better.
EDIT: I also remember clips of the old RD50 that had the Fortin tweaks that also sounded better than the RD45.

My suspicion is that the lower wattage ones had the gain channel in common with channel 3 of the 100, or they goosed the gain with some clipping or some such to make up for having much less preamp tubes. Either way, even in clips on YouTube I never thought the 45 sounded as good by comparison.

The Thrasher is similar. I planned on getting a 120 or a used Satan since those aren’t covered in the Axe FX and I’ve always wanted a Larry Dino but don’t want to drop $6K-$8K.

At some point, the Thrasher went from $1800ish new to over $3000.

I’ll pass.
