So I just came back from the gig and either they had to start earlier (the event had been pushed forward already once) or they were forced to cut their set short as I arrived 1 minute after the official beginning and I only heard 4 songs
Northlane also only performed for like 35 minutes while Architects did a several-hour-long 24-song set which was madness haha.
Anyway, back on topic: Managed to see them play Hypnosis, Higher, The Love You Want and The Offering and the performance was spot on! What a lovely experience, if you have the chance to see them live, definitely do it :agreed:

Interesting find: Apparently there are two writers credited for the first two records:
Vessel 1: Vocals, Keys, Guitar
Vessel 2: Drums
The same can be found beneath some of their Youtube videos. We know from George Lever (who is credited for bass) that the drummer does his thing in the end of the recording process so it seems that Vessel is not only the singer but also the songwriter in regards to instrumentals and writes/records everything except drums. Then add a guitarist, a bass player and the 3-men (women?) choir for live-shows.
Curious to see if more comes to light in the future, but on the other hand I really dig the mysterious nature of this band

Heard this band over the PA when seeing Alter Bridge, they were playing a track between sets. Went and checked them out and bloody love them now.

Need to get their stuff downloaded and added to my Cars Audio Drive.

A lot of their songs are in Drop Eb, such as Mine or this new song The Summoning off the top of my head. It’s not all drop E/drop A variants.

Another surprise drop. They did debut this and another new song at their show a day or two ago so not surprised, and guessing there will be a second surprise drop tomorrow.

Anyway, this gives me Tears For Fears/Depeche Mode vibes before going balls out crushing for the last minute and a half. This album is going to rule.

Anyone else get Katatonia vibes from these guys? First thing that popped into my head when I listened to one of the new singles was "it's been a while since I've listened to Night is the New Day"

I did this. Not my usual thing but it's cool.

Just wait, apparently another single is dropping in *checks watch* 6 minutes.

EDIT: And there it is

EDIT AGAIN: Holy shit this is heavy. More screaming, double bass, heavy guitars throughout, even a solo thrown in. And then it just goes places in the 2nd half and I'm here for it. Chokehold was great, this is fucking amazing!

Yeah, I'm just discovering the band. Listened to that sound and thought "what was OP smoking when he said this sounds like Deftones?"

New single is really good. I'm listening to their past album now which I didn't like too much (some odd tracks were cool), and everything seems to flow much better in these singles.

Just heard these guys for the first time last week and dug it, then one of the new vids popped in my YouTube feed last night and before the song was over I had everything they have on Apple Music loaded on my phone.

Not a huge fan when a song makes a big departure from moody metal to straight up R&B, but this is still really fucking great music and I dig the overall vibe quite a bit.

And another. This is beautiful. This is trying to be my album of the year before the first month is even done.
Also, some of those chord progressions are straight up jazzy. I guess with the first two new tracks were basically crushers, it's fitting these two show their more R&B/Soulful side.

I was expecting something simultaneously more metal and less heavy if that makes sense. The massive guitar sections are really great and I enjoy those a lot; the RnB stuff is growing on me. I'd love to see a completely soul crushing track with those super pop catchy choruses and great vocals though, currently each song makes me want more of both halves.

It's insanely inspiring though and VERY refreshing. The songs are super well done and well written. I don't know if they have the chops for it but I'd love to see an uptempo aggressive track. Most of their stuff is really really groovy and heavy but I'd love to see what the vocalist can do with a verse or two of harsh vocals. As evidenced by the one song live he has the thing nailed and loves to do it so

Also, my hot take: the songwriter is part of some form of deathcore band based on how groovy the riffs are and how wild the song structures can get.

i think that's the best one out of this new batch so far. Not heavy, but it is solid.

I found these guys during lock down in April 2020 randomly. Was listening to music while mowing the lawn and had Spotify playing. I might have put on like Tesseract radio playlist or something like that and the song "Higher" by Sleep Token popped up and I immediately was interested when I heard Vessels voice. Been a big fan ever since. Cool to see them getting bigger and noticed more. They were in the states touring with In This Moment back in September but I didn't go. Hopefully they come back to the US in 2023.

I think I might like the 2 latest singles the most of the 4, but so far they have all been great.

I really like this band, just discovered them as well.

They dress like Gaerea (including painting their bodies black) so I thought they actually were the same band doing something different. Really good stuff.

To be fair, that was like 3 years ago and "Gods" for example definitely sounds like a tribute to "Goon Squad"
But agreed, if a mod sees this can you please take the Deftones-thingy out of the title? :)

Apparently everything except drums is written/recorded by the singer and if you go down the rabbit hole about his identity it might be something very different from deathcore
But well, it`s just rumors and if someone wants to put the attention to the music instead of himself as the artist I respect that :yesway:
There`s also lots of thall in there. In any way it`s quite an interesting mix of influences and genres if it`s really just one songwriter and drummer creating this.

The new single is awesome. R&B but with a Jazz chord progression.

They're at >1.1m listeners on spotify now. Last year when I first noticed them they were at <100k.

I looked them up, they do look a lot a like, but pretty sure it’s just coincidental. Really liked the few songs I heard though.
