shame they don't offer a multiscale emi, 25.5 is too short for a good tone in lower tunings imo

It's a joke about them being overpriced. That's about it.
What high-end US-based custom shop is selling things much cheaper these days? Maybe some basic Schecter models? I'm not saying they're cheap, but they don't really seem out of line with what basically everyone else is changing, if not even less in some cases. You're not getting ESP, Jackson, EBMM, Gibson, BC Rich, Fender Custom Shop, Suhr, Anderson, Tyler, etc for much less. I'm surprised these aren't more than they are actually.

He was making a joke, but on the other hand, it’s an apples to oranges comparison. These aren’t high end custom shop. There’s zero custom about them. They’re not high end, either, as we’ve seen from the flaws. They are US made, but in that regard there’s plenty of competition at that price point. Not that I’m knocking these. I’m just saying, we can’t call them “high end customs” because they don’t fit that category.

I'm just saying that they don't seem to be priced any higher than any of the stuff they're trying to compete with. And if you listen to what you hear online, pretty much all of those brands I mention put out plenty of flawed instruments too. Does anyone really expect they'd be less expensive than what they are, based on the prices of...basically everything?

An Emi 8 with a whammy bar would be cool as hell.

An Emi 8 with double humbucking pickups and a whammy bar!? I'd raise the bridge, file down the nut, and take the buzz out the low F#.

Yeah, I agree they’re priced pretty much where they should be. Especially given that they sell out nearly every time. I don’t really think anyone’s arguing that they’re priced too high. I mean, we all moan about stuff being priced high, but we also complain about every single aspect of everything.

Yeah $3800 ain't cheap but it's not egregious.

I managed to talk myself out of getting one of that last Emi run, not least because shipping to Canada would have been $250 fuckin US dollars, which is ridiculous.

The 2000$ Kiesels I own have way better build quality than the 3700$ laradas I tried. Quality wise id say the Abasis are way over priced.

Wish I could say the same. My Abasis absolutely decimate my Kiesels, so much so that I've strongly considered selling them to fund an Emi on the next drop.

If you're buying a guitar or guitar related product, can almost guarantee you're funding some owners sports car love.

Continuing to track with stories, after Falbo was out of the picture, the quality stabilized. All anecdotal saying they are bad tends towards preferential or subjective views (which are valid!).

For instance, I also own a Les Paul and love it. Plenty of hate for Gibson, but mine stays in tune from stock, sounds good, was worth the money to me.

This has been helpful...waiting for the next J Laradas line to drop!!!!
