Leo Gibson has a YouTube video up for the sonicake.

5ish ms latency

Sound quality is ok, a bit muffled in his sample. Sounds like the tone you can get from any cheap modeller these days.

5ms latency is quite a lot. One might think it's not, but it adds up quite fast. Add a wireless and the natural distance to your cab (if not going direct) and it becomes quite noticeable.

I'd agree, it's not unplayable but it's something I can notice.

That latency is probably just a limitation of the processor they're using. For a $60 pedal they're not using anything powerful.

I already own a Tonex and a Tonex One, but I will 100% buy this for my second board if it does NAM captures. I'm about to replace all those cheap (but awesome) Behringer pedals.

And we thought the Tonex One was a good deal. Next month: some $30 Joyo pedal that will let you download Kemper captures lmao.

Yup the price on this stuff is a race to the bottom as SoC's get cheaper and cheaper to do this stuff. Tariffs are the only thing that can slow it down. In a few years any drive or preamp pedal that is $299+ will be a hard sale. A lot of drive pedals in the future will prob just be a single or several "exclusive" fixed nam profiles.

My big thing that keeps me locked into Tonex rather than nam is two things: IOS support and the fact that my favorite tone ever (from a headphone rig) is already set up on Tonex  that being said the guy that made the capture also does nam captures.

As soon as I can afford a reliable PC, I will not give two shits about iOS support, either.

I still think with ToneX, you are buying the Ecosystem. The easy ToneNet searching, multiple sized units that are compatible, PC plugin version, integration with Amplitube, etc...

NAM feels like you are randomly searching for things in a very unorganized way.

I think so too. I honestly think that if I tried to use NAM, I’d probably switch back to tonex fairly quickly because I simply don’t have time to do the searching AND play, most of the time.
