Sonicake just updated the firmware on their Pocket Master pedal to allow users to upload NAM captures to it. Crazy capability for a $60 pedal.

Still need to see more, some users report reduced quality, but this is an awesome development. Main downside seems to be that using a capture turns off the cab on the pedal. That could be fixed by using a full rig capture though.

I've been a huge fan of the Neural Amp Modeler and have been following the space. Seems like it just continues growing. Feel like it's only a matter of time before more companies start integrating the technology into more pedals.

I still haven’t played through one of these neural amp modeler devices, but color me intrigued.

It’s still a pain finding good captures for your own platform if you don’t have any Line 6 or Neural DSP kit, so I’m interested in a more open source solution for such things.

No equipment needed! You can download the software for free and start trying out caps. I agree that finding good captures is the hardest part, but I assume that's not exclusive to NAM.

I think the real benefit of these capture setups is when you have your own stuff you want to capture. For example, I sold an amp to a buddy, but he made some caps of it, so now I can load it up in the DAW anytime.

I use NAM to capture my various overdrives and distortions, so now I'm able to just use the plugin instead of fooling with reamping DIs through the hardware.

It can store 50 NAM profiles, that's pretty cool.

I think an issue (outside of sounds quality) will be latency. I remember when the cheap IR pedals started coming out, and some had pretty bad latency. Wouldn't surprise me if that will be an issue with these earlier cheap NAM pedals.

That's a good point about latency. As far as I can see, no one has talked about that yet. Have you seen any definite measurements on that?

Valeton is legit. Those Loft Series pedals were cool.

Leo Gibson is probably the only Youtuber that tests latency on modellers. If he gets his hands on these we will have data eventually.

The thing that finally sold me on getting the Tonex One is the 1.5 or so ms latency. I just love the way that feels to play.

NAM sounds great, but on my computer and interface I was looking at 5-7ms (I think, maybe more) which I can get used to, no big deal, but I like the instant real amp feel of ultra low latency.

Just my personal preference. I know we can essentially get used to any amount of latency, so yeah.

I used to jam away on Line 6 Tonefarm with probably ridiculous latency back in the day, so I know I'm being a little picky.

Crazy we are already at the $60 level though. Sounds like we are on the verge of a tun of products supporting NAM. Exciting!

I think what will keep any of these products alive is the support and ecosystem they build. For example, ToneX has the software, ToneNet, adding new features, etc.... we will see if these cheap NAM loaders ever go anywhere beyond launch.

Good point. I wish IKM would make an easy way to convert NAM into Tonex profiles. Currently ToneX is the profiling platform I am locked into.

Yeah, I have a lot of ToneX stuff also. I have really been impressed with the ToneX. I think NAM is cool, but it reminds me of Linux. So far, it is too fragmented to get as popular. It doesn't have that central ecosystem to pull it all together.

They've done a lot work on the ToneHunt site as well as making the training side easier, so they're working on the adoption side.

The fact that it's open source means other companies can easily integrate it (see: this whole thread), so I think the ecosystem will continue growing.
