Chapman guitars now own Cerberus guitars & Guitarmory pickups!
Okay now THAT is not what I expected... Chapman must still be doing good with the average beginner guitar player walking into Guitar Center.

@gunch To me, it's v. weird. First off I, don't see how these acquisitions will help, are Guitarmory pickups gonna be used to source pickups now to Chapman like OEM? Will they be allowed to sell their pickups via own store?
Overall, I'm not sure how any of that will help Chapman now that they lost 2 sig. artists (Rabea, Rob Scallon), and with the fallout from Covid (supply shortages, etc.), and with mounting competition from Harley Benton, Solar, not to mention up & coming Asian brands like Eart.
Did they get rid of the hell ugly headstock?

I'd never heard of Eart before. All I can think of is 'Bart, Dart, Cart, E-art. Nope, can't see any problem with that' 😆
Stuff like SS frets, a bone nut and compound radius were not what I was expecting. There's definitely an opportunity in the market for these specs at this price point. In Australia, seems you can only buy online and ship them here, paying import tax, etc. Just for curiosity's sake, do you know if they have them in stores in the US?![]()

Haven't tried them yet, but I saw raving reviews on YT, they feature SS frets by default, v. reasonable prices, etc.
You underestimate how numerous TooL stans are and how much disposable income they haveAlready saw someone selling a Adam Jones Epiphone sig for £2000! I mean that's twice the price new and the Gibson Standard Adam Jones is £2500. I don't know if anyone would be that desperate to get the Epi to pay that much!
I don't think so, even in the US u have to buy online. They have dedicated US, EU, CA warehouses (that u could choose from a drop down menu) but usually they are sold out compared to the world wide one.Stuff like SS frets, a bone nut and compound radius were not what I was expecting. The newer Mark Holcomb color looks pretty badass actually. But what caught my eye are the new Seymour Duncan signature pickups. The 2023 PRS lineup is here:
Nothing too mind blowing. The new hardtail Dustie Waring CE does look sick and the new 20 watt amp seems interesting. The McCarty 594s are coming to the SE lineup, which I think that was being speculated anyways.
It makes some sense. I've heard some guitarists say that modeling amps don't do well with high output or active pick ups for whatever reason. Perhaps after touring for so many years with the Alpha/Omega using AxeFX exclusively there are a few things he's discovered he wanted to change to work better with that set up and other modelers/sims. I am excited to hear it though. It looks great, the blue changes the whole vibe of the guitar to me in a good way.The newer Mark Holcomb color looks pretty badass actually. "Designed to work with modeling amps in mind, Holcomb’s Scarlet & Scourge pickups bring full tone with slightly less drive, offering more articulation than ever."
Sounds odd to say pickups designed with modeling amps in mind, but I'm deifnitely curious.
In typical SSO fashion I have to say, the new Holcomb sig is looking great, but how the hell does it still have a plastic nut and come without locking tuners? I'm sure it's to keep cost down for the average fan, but I imagine a price hike comes along with the new line as well. Though,I'd happily be proven wrong, I can see them jumping to $1100 and $1200 for the 6 and 7 respectively.
