Anyone Keep Going Back To EMG?

I tried one with a bass at this bass place called 'the bass place' a long time and it was very uneventful, lol. I don't think I fully grasped the concept at the time. I'd say totalyl not worth that much money.

Anyone Keep Going Back To EMG?

In case If it hasn't already been mentioned, there was a box called "the box" EMG made for anyone who didn't know. It's got all the stuff in one box. It was a dealer thing.

    Replacing foam in hard case

Fabric stores or furniture repair places. If you're talking about the grey or yellow, green/blue or styrofoam stuff it's all done with a serrated bread knife and bandsaws. Use a test piece first. I saw a video where they do it in layers and use spray glue. That stuff is nasty and everything...

What is your next guitar/gear purchase gonna be?

But you will not only sound, but play, 90% just like EVH* : ) *(all claims refer to daydreams, no guarantee is implied)

Tube amps are dying luxury.... Do you agree?

The worst part about tube amps is the tubes themselves They fail bad when you run them hot like on my 2502 using class a cathode bias. It gets so hot I could probably boil some ramen up on the grill. The reason they burn up now though is tubes aren't what they used to be. There's NOS tubes...

    Scale Length - 25.5 vs 27

Yes chords are easier. If you're a complex chord person go with 25.5 if having a hard time. I had to step away from one of my favorite guitar because even after year of settling in with it selling it off, getting it back and trying again, I still couldn't jive with if for complex chords. That...

What is your next guitar/gear purchase gonna be?

Am I the first to hear about the new Boss EVH delay pedal? The SDE-3000EVH looks awesome with that old school display, but for $600 I don't think I'm checking it out unless someone else gets it first. Wonder if guitar center will have them. Maybe that will finally be the excuse to go there after...

Thiele, ported, closed back, or open back cabs? (Mesa input, especially!)

I don't doubt it. It all just depends I guess, but although I liked how it sounded better I had to upgrade to four 2x12's I built. It just had to be done. Been in load boxes and phones a while now though and don't feel like I'm missing much tbh.

Thiele, ported, closed back, or open back cabs? (Mesa input, especially!)

The 112 Mesa Thiele was my favorite personal type speaker cab. It will not fill a room and compete with w drummer etc. It does not sound open even though it has a half open variant. You can make it closed back too, btw, mine had an extra panel that came with it. The difference is the half open...

Speakers -- Can playing with distortion at bedroom/quiet volumes harm the speakers?

It's really odd for so many to go bad. Maybe just those pieces don't jive together? I wouldn't really hesitate so much as hestitate with those because many people play on stuff at low volumes for years without issues. Chances are if you changed it up you'd not have any more issues unless it's...

It is going to be like old classic/muscle cars. And btw, that's my analogy : ) lol.

Speakers -- Can playing with distortion at bedroom/quiet volumes harm the speakers?

I don't think stacking anything is any of the issue, but what you say here flys in the face of what the world and internet says about under powering speakers not being an issue. - I agree with what you say though and think with high wattage speakers in particular they can go bad if under...

Quality between cab manufacturers- does it matter?

Good to know. Thing seems to be junk. I'd bet one made from 2x4's and sealed up really well would sound good, though it may sound funny. It'd be an inexpensive cab. lol.- I'm itchin to build something now, but to much going on. Cheap wiring is the major issue though.

Guitar magazines from 80s, 90s, where are they now?

To bad I can't take a picture well at all. It's apparetly the hardest thing n the world. lol. Here's a bunch from 1990 up early 2k's. The earliest one I have still is from Nov 1990. The tab's, ad's, and basiclly everything was better. If you look close within 2 pages of the same magazine you see...

Quality between cab manufacturers- does it matter?

The 4x12 is cool too but I've never even seen a picture of a real one. It's got a big slat port down the middle like a bandpass cabinet. The Thiele is basically a sub people used for guitar I think. I loved that cab more than anything though and only sold it for bigger setup when I needed it.

Quality between cab manufacturers- does it matter?

I was thinking of bulding a couple of these or simlar using finger joints but using hardwood slats from Home Depot scrap. It'd be around $150 a cab but it'd be solid like a cutting board (or I could use those precut cutting boards for like $40 a side) and it's cheapr than finding a big hardowood...

Quality between cab manufacturers- does it matter?

I got lucky and found them pretty quick! Now I'm all dusty. Now that I remember what it's called I got a .pdf of the same thing online for the old 12L and the cab. It's basically the same thing as the Benton. If people don't like the Benton cab maybe it's got junk material or something. Ev...
