If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

Honestly no clue either. About average-ish guitar weight? This one is heavy for an Essi because it has a heavy ash body, but Essis aren't heavy guitars. It'd be excessively heavy as a Tele, but it's not a Tele. I don't weigh them, I'm more concerned about balance and weight distribution than...

If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

The MI Megalith is a different beast entirely, even though you can pull all sorts of tones from it there's a persistent "immediacy" to it, it feels quick and direct and it doesn't make me work as hard as with other amps. I find I have to use a heavier attack with most other amps to get the kind...

If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

Ah, I guess it just feels like ancient history. In my mind the newer guitars from 2012 onwards were a big step, then the new neck construction maybe about 2016, plus lots and lots of little things. Realistically quality hasn't changed drastically, but as these cohesive whole entities the guitars...

    The Fishman Fluence Thread

I'm too lazy to search, what's the battery life like with the Fluences? I seem to recall someone, somewhere mentioning it wasn't great?

If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

Probably (b) I remember that guitar having a really broad frequency range acoustically. It sounded more like a piano. Spruce body and neck on that one. I can't recall which pickup design was in it, the probably had quite a bit of cut too. I have to remind myself that nobody was making fanned...

If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

There was a light burst to blend the edges into the sides. When I took pictures they either made the burst look huge with the clear coat looking great, or the burst looked tiny but the clear looked like shit

If Misha Ordered An Oni (Oni Content, Obviously)

This guitar almost killed me To put a little perspective on the time frame and complications - The initial time frame quoted was looong because I had a few life things going on including a baby on the way, the death of my mother and the impending death of my father. At that time I was only...

ugh my continued disappointment with the mesa rectifier

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the recto didn't get along with your Oni pickups, they might be kind of doubling up in a particular frequency range. I remember trying some of the early prototypes with a dual recto (I think) and finding them unusually harsh even though they were ok with other...

    Multi-scale Question

How a fanned neck feels is a combination of factors, just like standard neck but with more variables thrown in. On a seven with the 1.5" to 2" difference is safe. Any more and you're pushing the ergonomics. The 9th fret area is a good spot for the perpendicular fret, so let's say 7th to 10th is...

Did my guitar just get screwed?

I can't really comment on what's been done by this tech (maybe with pics) but I can clarify a few things. It's entirely possible that frets won't be level on a 'new' guitar, in fact it's extremely common. Wood settles and moves, frets are often not leveled accurately at the factory, and often...

    trouble after pickup change

Looking at it on a proper size screen now. It's really hard to tell if it's wired in correctly. Normally with a Dimarzio the red wire connects to the switch contacts, with green and bare connected to ground. Black and white are connected together and insulated. If the pickup phase isn't correct...

    trouble after pickup change

It's pretty hard to kill a pickup. That control cavity on the other hand is a mess. The volume pot and switch both look they may have taken too much heat. This happens with underpowered soldering irons when making ground connections. A good iron will concentrate the heat in a small area very...

    Possibly but unlikely, can't hurt.

    trouble after pickup change

Either a damaged pot or switch contact (possibly by overheating) or a shitty solder joint/wire damage

Cutting Multiscale Fretslots through a radius

If you really want to overcomplicate things you need to look at the what's happening with the slot and the wood itself. The slot has a small amount of clearance to the tang and the fretboard wood compresses to some degree.

Cutting Multiscale Fretslots through a radius

The tang bends slightly relative to the crown. In some ways stainless is better to work with than nickel silver. NS is softer but it has a little more spring to it. Stainless is harder but when forced into shape it tends to stay put rather than spring back. One of the reasons I don't bother...

Cutting Multiscale Fretslots through a radius

Like Adam said, fretwire is pliable so it can conform to the tiny twist necessary.
