Yeah I sold my V1 Flint in anticipation of these getting released but I already have a Volante and Nightsky so have no real need to get any of these.
If these had been available when I was building my board I would have probably gone with a MIDI controlled Flint and El Cap for their simplicity...
Thanks! I would like an occasional flanger and MIDI control so that's part of what appeals on the Zelzah. I also like that it's a bit vague in between these as you sort of drift between phase/chorus/flange.
But on the other hand chorus, phaser and flanger often work best in different parts of...
Only the Blue Sky seems to have a favorite switch built in. That lets you switch between one saved preset and the current knob positions. For everything else you need MIDI or Strymon Favorite switch.
Working with presets using MIDI is really easy. Send a PC message, set your knobs and hold a...
The afore-mentioned Genelecs already cover the frequency range all the way down to a regular bass guitar. So plenty of low end as is. Adding a sub to it just made it harder to keep the sound balanced and room issues became more noticeable.
Any thoughts on Zelzah vs the CE-2W? I've been considering adding one of them on my board for modulation but since I mostly use chorus the Zelzah seems like a bit much.
You could explore the Ibanez hollowbodies range or just look at other brands like Gretsch.
When I was hunting for a hollowbody I ended up with a very nice Schecter Coupe. It has Filtertron style pickups tho so it won't sound like traditional humbuckers.
I think it works best with headphones but I do like it with monitors too. I would turn it down a bit more in that situation.
For recording I probably wouldn't use it except for sections where other instruments are not getting in the way. It's probably not ideal for high gain tones either.
Out of these I'd go for the Helix Floor. It needs no extra gear, is easy to use and can do a lot.
To me the FM3+FC6 is a bad deal when you lose out on the FM9's extra DSP. FM3 is fine if you get something other than the overpriced FC footcontroller.
It's not the same in my experience. I've tried dialing in reverb to sound like fullres IRs and I don't think you can get anything better than "somewhat in the ballpark". Especially for headphone use I think Fullres IRs are great. But as it is the feature is in its infancy and there's no...
You need this Chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wadsworth-constant/kndfoahdcfpbfmmfdammfajpkifjndkh
I haven't tried it but it should skip the first 30% of any YT video. Which should get you past any intro themes and pointless blather.
Many videos also nowadays have...
I disagree. I think power scaling when done well can sound just as good as having a lower power version. Only with the power scaled option you have the option for higher output too. Pentode/triode switches to me are the worst option. Turning off a pair of output tubes is often marginal volume...
That's why if you are interested in something you can usually watch multiple videos of it, including the ones filmed with an iPhone mic that look like the amp is in some cave in Afghanistan. Usually the professionally made ones are a better representation of the sound.
Bluetone here in Finland makes a 5W Plexi using EL91 tubes. It sounds nice, but their bigger 25W Plexi sounded just bigger and bolder - which is how I usually perceive the "low watt vs higher watt" difference. With modern power scaling I just don't see low wattage only amps as relevant when you...
Most of the time no, but they did manage to sell me a Victory VC35 head.
It was this Rabea Massaad demo that sold me:
After that I watched every YT demo available at the time before ordering the amp. The video above is pretty accurate to how it sounds. Mine really only came to its own after...
Nah I've never owned the HX Stomp. I used the full Helix Floor with it but sold it and built a pedalboard around the Amp 1 instead. In hindsight the Helix + Amp 1 setup was more convenient.
