im in the market for a 7 string, and there are 2 options, both are used
1. a blue K7 with chipped paint in the back (no hardcase, about $1200)
2. a near mint RG762 (with case $1300)

... over there...
I never liked the K7 inlay. That one's volume knob doesn't look original.

Questions:
Do you need the U-Bar?
Do you need a TONE knob?
Do you think wood type matters?
Do you prefer a newer or older guitar? Those 2 are about 20 years apart ... I have a 30 years old guitar that still rocks as new.
How are the frets on both?
Are you thinking on resale value?
Have you tried them? Can you try them? asking about neck shapes and that sort of things...
If I'm not mistaken, the K7's switch is 3 position, while the 762 is 5... Does this matter to you? (one can change it nevertheless...)
How do you feel about dark versus clear fingerboards? My guitars are all dark fingerboards. Once I played a maple one and got confused for a while...

Another thing to consider is the wear on the LoPro's knife edges and studs, 20 years is kind of a lot on those, depending on the use they got.

Check the truss rod adjustments and neck twists, specially on older guitars. If the price looks too good to be true, probably is... Check for neck joint's cracks, specially on older guitars, if they exist, are they paint only or deeper? Check for rust in hardware and screws. Check for all the pieces like nut pads and screws (and if those aren't slipping or not tightening correctly), covers, string tree behind the nut, for fret buzz and so on... older guitars will need a deeper check up.

You'll know what to get when you'll have answers for these questions...

Personally, I never cared for the Korn sigs... and that purple is quite interesting...

Thanks for the reply!

I don’t need the U-bar. According to the seller, it didn’t come with a normal trem handle—just the U-bar
I hardly use the tone knob
I have two 2012 UV777s: one is a workhorse, and the other is a mint collection piece that’s never been touched. The seller doesn’t play 7-string guitars, or so he says
Yes, resale value is important, but I’m planning to use them mainly for gigging
I can’t try them out since we live far away from each other
I only use the bridge and neck pickups for my playing
I’m interested in a maple fingerboard, but all my 7-string guitars have either rosewood or ebony fingerboards. I do have a 652 (the 6-string version of the 752) with maple, though
The purple one is quite interesting to me, mostly because of the swamp ash body and maple neck
But I’ve been drooling over a K7 since my high school days.

if you are ok likely spending 200 usd to bring the k7 up to spend, then would go with that model (inlay aside).
unless there are some within model variations, neck plays well etc

Then the correct answer is both...? This is the way...

That's the original knob? Isn't the original a "dome" one? that's what I see in catalogues...

I probably wouldn’t gig a K7. Even a beat up one. That’s going to be a bigger theft target than a regular old RG. Though you said you gig a UV, so maybe that’s not an issue for you.

That’s being said, if I have the money AND a K7 on my radar, I’m getting it

so its gonna be that bad huh
i think its best to expect it will need a couple bucks; otherwise end up playing something below its ability
agree, the blue is more appealing, same color as mine

K7

The purple RG is really beautiful, but a K7 will hold its value better over time and the neck on those is one of the best 7 string necks ever made...
