Was I wrong, or was the buyer?

Well since this thread's been bumped, I can say this much guys....The dude hasn't contacted me at all since he bought it, so I assume he realized the guitar is good, and just needed to set it up to his liking.

    ^This is faulty garbage.
Good technique doesn't mean one can avoid buzzing with a butterfly touch. Some people like to dig in (like SRV, Ynqwie, ZW, etc etc) and do not enjoy ultra low action. That's why there is no 1 universal setup that fits all players.

Glad everything worked out for OP

Actually, when I'm looking at a used guitar, if the action is too low, and there's a lot of buzzing, I don't really care, because that's easy to fix (you can still check the frets though). Now, if the action was high, and there was still a ton of buzzing, it would probably mean that there's some fret levelling that needs to be done (and that means giving it to my tech).

You were fine. You're selling a guitar. If he doesn't like it, he's free to not buy it. Set-ups are subjective.

Meh if your not good enough to realize that buzzing is a mixture of action and technique and adjust yourself while you are demoing gear then you can go fys

Way to stand your ground on a sinking ship while cursing at the stars
I couldn't make some of my guitars buzz if I tried to- which is based on setup, not some awesome talent that I developed over the years. I reiterate this in case some young axe slinger wanders in here and gets exposed to your fake truth- THINK of the CHILDREN
