I never understood the deep disgust for pineapple on pizza - it's mediocre at best but not exactly the worst thing you can put on.

    Anchovies for example, can GTFO.

When it comes to pizza, I think simpler is better; a good cheese and tomato pizza (not even needing basil) is the best pizza.

I don't mind extravagant or "artisinal" toppings or whatever, but don't forget you're making a pizza that is going to be eaten with one's hands and will probably have leftovers. I've been places that dump a mound of dressed arugula over the top. Tastes ok with it, but it makes eating & reheating a hassle.

Positive Grid just can't make a good product, this sounds like giant overpriced piece of crap, just like previous BiasFX.

I've still yet to be blown away by any VST amp I've tried myself.

Mercuriall and Neural DSP are very good.

Another opinion; fetishising super loud volumes while playing guitar or in bands is just stupid, volume is not tone.

There was a whole thread for that debate recently.

It depends. Turning up some amps gets the power section cooking, so it can affect tone. Plus, when you have some volume, you can get certain effects (like infinite sustain) that you can't without a certain amount of volume (doesn't have to be super loud, but it does need to be loud enough to cause the strings to vibrate).

Loud enough to get some tubes cooking and speakers moving, sure. There's a line though. Loud enough that I can't hear the drummer at all anymore? I'd rather go home than sit through that kind of a set.

And if you remember that one Dennis Hopper quote, I think it goes something like, "It does sound like shit..."

That's the good kind of loud, then there is stupidly loud when you're not hearing others and everything sounds like a muddy mess.

Death magnetic isn't a bad album, especially compared to utter shit like st. anger or lulu.

I think as great as Iron Maiden are, and as much as I love them, I gotta say they suck at choruses. Repeating the title fifty times isn't a chorus. I don't know when it started, but I think it was around the same time they started to think they were prog. It's strange because even if they were, it's almost like the more "sophisticated" they got, the more juvenile and elementary their choruses became.

Well, their songs remain stuck in a pattern decades later. You can research and devote as much time as you want on song writing but if you need to push record sales and will face backlash for experimenting, then you have boundaries which always damage art I guess.

That's how we do choruses here in Europe. Still better than drops or breakdowns...

Prior to going "prog," Iron Maiden would actually do more than just "Seventh son of a seventh son, seventh son of a seventh son, seventh son of a seventh goddamn fucking son" over and over until you're tempted to smash your vehicle into a telephone pole at 80 mph.

I'd like to see Maiden's take on "Uptown Girl", especially live.

I would prefer to see Billy Joel's version of The Trooper.
