I've been listening to "Damaged" from Black Flag, and god damn, is it awesome. \m/

Hank looked so much different back in 1981. Wow.

I read somewhere that song took (what was for them) an inordinate amount of time to record, due to those "chorus" vocals.

I know this song is supposed to be ironic, but it makes me want to have a TV Party, dammit!

The whole album (damaged) is awesome. Its the one punk disc i've been able to listen all the way through on repeat. Police Story, Spray Paint, TV party, etc. They're all awesome.

Its cool, cause when Henry talks about Greg Ginn, he mentions how he was always practicing and stuff, and the later albums are way more experimental and have lots of instrumental parts.

My War is my favorite song by Black Flag.

There's a part in Get in the Van where Rollins is saying that Ginn spent four hours or six or something practicing bass, which he doesn't even play. They were real musicians who worked hard and tried to say something.

I read an interview with one of the old Black Flag members where they said Greg would start a band rehearsal and it'd turn into a competition of who could last the longest. Henry would always blow his voice out after two hours or so and the rest of the band would generally peter out after about six hours but Greg would just keep on playing with whoever wandered into the room. Talk about commitment...

It's hard for me to listen to Black Flag these days, what with Henry Rollins' media whoredom and all. Sure, he's hardly objectionable, but it doesn't mean I'm not sick of seeing him everywhere. He should start a band with Scott Ian, heh.

    You were saying?

I gotta admit, one of my life-long dreams, taking the trans-Siberian Railway trip, was stolen straight from Rollins' book.

Rise Above is easily the best punk song ever! I can't say i liked the album much when i got it a few years ago, but my taste has evolved a lot since then, so i gotta go back and give it a full listen. Really glad to see people here listen to some punk rock.
