Hey everybody it's been a while since I've been on here or even playing guitar.

Sold all my gear because of a girl and quit playing. Never again. I'm working on hunting down a block letter 5150 ATM to start. Will be picking up a straight rec 4x12 a od808 and mxr 10 band to get started again. Might get a evh mini but really want a block letter again to keep for life before they get impossible to find.

I need to get myself a new 7 and I don't want a import. I used to play USA Jackson's when I used 6's and had a couple of old soloists that where pure magic and have always wanted a Jackson USA 7 I think this might be the time to pull the trigger.

Here's what I'm thinking of getting

Soloist body with standard inline hs
Blacked out no binding or inlays etc
    7 27" scale
    Alder/Qs maple
Single emg 81-7 in the bridge
    Floyd
    Schaller locking tuners
    Dunlop strap locks
    6100ss frets

Does anyone here know if they can do 7 strings as custom selects yet? I thought by now Jackson would have usa sl7s but I guess not.

Anybody know what customs go for now and the wait times?

Thoughts on getting a custom Jackson? Should I just get a Kiesel dc7x?

I am not a jackson guy so I cant answer those specific questions but it definitely sounds like you want a Jackson over a Kiesel.

You can get 7s, however from memory it's a $2600USD surcharge on the price (I think @MaxOfMetal mentioned on here somewhere).

I actually decided to go with kiesels but after reading up on how the company is currently being mismanaged and treating their customers I will be moving forward with the Jackson.

Gonna look into placing the order for the Jackson tomorrow. Hope they can manage to put 24 frets on this one since I'm probably gonna be paying 7 grand for it

First of all; Stay true to that please!

now, regarding the guitar; Im not very knowledgeable regarding Jackson, but considering the rather simple and Metal AF aesthetic and specs you want; havent you considered a USA Jackson COW? I know there are a fews with a Floyd style bridge (don't know if OFR though)

Also; an Ibanez Dino Cazares or an RGD Prestige seem like really solid options for you (unless you are absolutely set on Jackson)

How much time do you have to wait for this guitar to be built? My first Jackson out of the custom shop took over a year. The second one I ordered from a limited run of 14 and it arrived in about 9 months.

Last I heard they were not accepting Masterbuilt orders, which 7s fall under.

Did they give you a time frame as to when they would be accepting orders again or just "Not at this time?"

The dealer didn’t know when the shop would open up again. Said to just check back.

As always, I ended up buying something else so I’m tapped out for the moment and haven’t looked into it.

ESP makes a pretty good soloist. They do custom orders as well.

You're ok to go with kiesel, just be sure not to order any options 50 so that you can return it just in case. In terms of quality they are pretty solid, it's just that the customer service sucks and sometimes they mix up the specs, but yours are pretty basic so there's literally nothing to f**k up. Also it will arrive faster and will probably cost 3-4 times less being black with alder body and maple neck:)

    This +1

You could do a simple build with Kiesel and if you don't like it return it. The only potential issue I see if the 27 inch scale. That may make it an option 50

Another reason to steer clear of Kiesel is resale. I have a (IMO of course) gorgeous DC700 for sale, and I am willing to bet it will sell for less than 45% of what I paid for it, and it's not a decked out model. Don't order a new one unless you can't find what you want used. They are not worth it.

This is the route I went when my dealer told me Jackson was holding off on Masterbuilds. It was fairly close in price between my Masterbuilt KV's and the quote for a ESP NV. ESP was a little higher but not bad.
