    Howdy,
Shortly: i had the Ibanez s570qdxd. I was very satisfied with the looks: the color was outstanding. Like this:

But after 2 years it become more dead-pinkish-purple-yucky:

I HATED it and decided to sell it. After a while i decided to modify it. I wanted a more aggressive body shape and even thinner part of the body under the forearm. After 2 years of battles with various paints (cheap mahogany is a bitch to paint), by accident, i came with this finish:

I've changed the shape of the headstock, done some fretjob. Modified the AANJ to be even more comfy. Modified electronics: 5-way switch controls only 2 humbuckers: SD Jazz and SD 59/custom hybrid. Two Vol knobs with treble bleed on neck pickup's vol.
Finally, the guitar is very comfy, lightweight. It sounds great.

AAAAAnnnndddd.... i am giving it to my friend. I am lucky enough to have 9 guitars and 10th on order. My friend had some serious family issues and he can't afford the second guitar. He's an active player, so a nice second guitar is a must in that situation. It's my maybe good deed, because i wanted to help someone like this. Maybe if i were in the same situation it would be so nice to get a great instrument from someone. I didn't want to just give Him a guitar that i didn't like. After my mods and many many labour intensive hours, this guitar is great and i don't want to part with it. Anyway, Adam, enjoy this piece of me:)
    So here it is:

    That pink was nice Oo..

I like the arm cutaway, but horns and headstock is not my type :)

That's sick, and really cool of you to help your buddy out like that. If only Ibanez would start making an "SGD" series in this shape.

Thx guys for the replies. I don’t like Ibanez headstock, but i like it in reverse. Same for pointy inline6 ESP headstock.

Love this! Although I could never change an Ibanez headstock. It's till this day my favorite looking headstock. How did you paint it? Is it stain?

THX. Regarding headstocks YMMV, but I admit that under certain angles Ibby's headstock can look cool.
How did I painted it? Well, I probably had the most steep learning curve here. I ended up with removing all my previous work... twice :)lol): 1. wood sealer, leveling, base, chameleon, epoxy clear coat - not happy, 2. wood sealer, leveling, base, chrome/silver paint - hated it, but somehow it looked cool during the cleaning process.
There was always something wrong: poly sealer didn't adhere to the wood, epoxy too, nitro as well. The only one that adhered was universal heavy-duty acrylic base.
So my final recipe was pretty simple: cleaning the wood pores, raising the wood fibers, solvent, drying (2 days), black acrylic base 3 coats, fine sanding (1500 and 2000 grit), 5 very thin coats of black matte acrylic.
I planned just to level it and build up more coats to achieve perfect base point to go further with some nice color, but I just loved the look of plain black matte with visible wood grain.

That faded purple colour kind of looks like the new finishes they have now , wonder if that's where they got the idea.....

I'm not sold on the headstock change either, but otherwise this looks really cool. :yesway:

I think that turned out pretty sweet, and I'm not normally a s-series fan.

Apparently you just need to buy a blue one and wait a couple of years

Not into the new horns and headstock but that is KILLER for a personal mod job. That finish looks factory-level clean.
    Seriously dude, well done :metal:
