this is the third RGT I've bought but the first one that has a trem instead of a fixed bridge but i still love it just as much. these guitars are really awesome for how cheap you can find one nowadays... i only paid $240 for it. I'm not 100% sure on the specs for it but I think it's
    maple neck-thru
    mahogany wings
    bound rosewood fretboard
    inf 1/2 pickups
    LO-TRS TREM ll

sorry the pics are so bad my Ipad is my camera

Nice. When I was considering my SL2H I also looked at the prestige RGT that was out at the time.

No idea why Ibanez doesn't do neck through RGs anymore, they were great guitars.

Love mine as well. Great feeling necks and very chunky toned with the mahogany wings.
Scuff that gloss on the neck back and it's grease lightning.

edit; pickups with much mids and bite work really well with these

Did Ibanez ever make any high end RGTs? For that matter, has there ever been a production neck-through S? I know a lot of you will think this is nuts, but I'd be more inclined to buy an Ibanez if they weren't almost all bolt-on.

Yea I'm pretty sure there's some high end RGT's but I don't think they've made neck thru S? I would love one of those tho if they did it with a fixed bridge that would be badass.

But dude go look for an RGT they're all really solid guitars and if trems aren't your thing they have fixed bridge versions that are awesome like the rgt6exfx and rgt42DXFX. I Have both and the RGT6 is mahogany and sounds really good since I swapped the bridge for a hipshot but the rgt42 (specifically the matte black one) is basswood I think and is my favorite of the RGT's mainly because matte finish feels great on the back of the neck and I tried a hipshot bridge on it but found it sounds better with the stock bridge and a set of graphtech saddles.

Ibanez made tons of higher end, MIJ RGTs. The most recent being the RGT220 and RGT320 models, but there were numerous models going all the way back to 91'.

While there were some neck-thru high end Sabers, they were pretty much all either limited editions or J.Customs. There's actually a current set-neck JCS model, it's just very pricey, especially with import costs.

Does anyone know if there is a black version of this tremolo I can pick up anywhere? I'm planning to replace all the hardware with black and getting a black pickguard cus ibanez's with trems just don't look right without a pickguard to me?

And I'm thinking about trying either the emg het set or maybe an 81X series in here. What do you guys think would sound better in the mahogany body?

RGT42s. So awesome. Love my RGT42DX.

For the bridge, get an OFR and shim it. I have s Zakk Wylde set in mine. I thought the earlier RGT42s were basswood...?

Yea I like my RGT42's way better than my RGT6, which color 42 do you have?

My dad told me to get an OFR to so I'll probably get one of those

And I'm not really sure what wood it's made out of? I can't seem to find any specs for this specific red one? But it's definitely heavier (weight) than my other RGT it's very noticeable

Old ones with the trs trem are basswood. I had an rgt42 of the first revision which got the edge2 bridge but it was still basswood. I think they finally changed to mahogany when they added the DX to the model number but not 100% sure.

    Yeah !

I'd really like to see more set neck and neck through 25.5" Scale Guitars from ALL MANUFACTURERS.

EVERYBODY makes another Strat Style Bolt On and thinks they've reinvented the wheel.

Let's see some Set Necks and Neckthroughs in 25.5 ".
