    2013 Blackmachine B6 just arrived in the mail. I've been wanting one for 10 years and finally had the chance to scoop one up. She joins some good company!

    As far as playing, it is excellent! Fast neck, each note rings out clearly through distortion, super lightweight, very comfortable to play, sounds HUGE, even sounds HUGE unplugged, and is incredibly punchy. I'm impressed and in love! I'm especially enjoying how stripped down it is compared to my EBMMs - quite a different beast. It's pretty inspiring to play and riffs just come naturally. 1.JPG 3.JPG 4.JPG 5.JPG

    Happy NGD! I’ve never heard of this brand before. Seems like a good idea to make a guitar with stripped-down features; so it can cost less money.

    And thus Doug learned the hard way: don't outsource your labor to the same country you're already living in.

    Huh? You’re joking, right? That doesn’t make sense...You’d have to raise prices to compensate for the added overhead of being legally obligated to pay a contractor/employee a higher wage to build the guitar than if you were building them yourself. That could easily double the cost of building one of these to a hundred and fifty dollars - What are these going for on Amazon? I can’t imagine the margins being too great - Even though they seem like a SWEET hot-rodding platform. Heck - Even if you didn’t swap out the cheap hardware, all you really have to do is paint it.

    Ahaha thanks all, you're killing me! I am pulling some much different riffs out of it than I do my JP's, it's cool how a different guitar can guide your playing.

    /s aside, Johnathan's said he pays a "serious license" to Doug for each guitar he builds, so that cost is definitely passed to yours truly for the name on the backplate.

    Been a long time since I last logged on here, but I figured this would pop up in an NGD thread. Just wanted to say congrats with your acquisition and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ddtonfire

    That one is too obvious. C for effort.

    That said, BM hype seems gone, which is a good thing. I could get people liking stuff like ebony veneers etc, but a straight unpainted slab of ash for that price, well, no.

    Ahh is this the one from Reverb? If so you literally snagged it right before I could :lol:

    At least it's in a good home. Congrats man!

    That being said....if you ever want to move it, I'll be here :lol:

    @Randy - thanks, I really appreciate that.

    @mountainjam - thanks a ton, I can't put it down!

    @Jake - Indeed it was, and thank you! Keep your eye peeled, they've seemingly been popping up more often.

    Keep in mind that in Europe (I'm French too ;) ), a B6 at GBP2.3 makes it cheaper than a JP6 for example. And it's luthier-built by Feline. So even if you take the hype away, it's not a terrible deal.

    Don't people in Europe have to pay a premium for EBMM, with the customs and shipping? That would make it comparable to Americans getting Blackmachines, with the exception of getting quite a few more features for the price in the case of the MM's.

    Yes that is literally my point :p That high-end factory guitars end-up at the same price or more expensive than custom and/or hand-built guitars such as the B6.

    EBMM (and Mesa, for that matter) are bad exemples, it's not the VAT and taxes, it's the greedy distributors. Other brands from outside the EU have way more reasonable prices (Fender, Gibson, ESP) compared to their "home" price.
