I'm on a V kick. I love the 70s V look with the short round headstock. This one even has the proper raised fretboard with no neck angle. It's a beater and I got a sweet deal. It's a great player. The fretboard is still smooth with some gloss. I can drop the action super shreddy low. It's nice and light. These were made by Fujigen along with the Ibanez, Electra (Hetfield's white V), Aria and I think one or two other names. The only differences being hardware and electronics. Well this one is the set neck version. There were also bolt on versions like Hetfield's.

Yeah apparently my phone pics are too big to attach. I'll edit them on the laptop and post them.

There's an app called image compressor I use to shrink the pics enough to upload onto SSO.

I can't edit the OP for some reason. Anywho hear are some pics my wife took. I've got some EMGs on the way and I am going to order a Faber locking bridge setup. I usually replace the studs and everything because it really makes a huge difference with the metal Faber uses. However, this one could be a problem. It looks like they installed the studs for the tailpiece and then painted the factory finish over it so that it looks like the stud screws go straight into the body. So it could be a pain in the ass trying not to fuck up the finish getting the old studs out. You can't really see in the pics but someone chopped off the corners on the heal. This is mainly why I got such a good deal. At first I was thinking wtf but after playing it really makes a huge difference in comfort and makes it feel like a neck thru joint so I will probably just leave it as it is. Needless to say I am happier than a pig in shit.

I've got some upgrades coming in the mail. I'll get some proper guitar pics when I get it all together. I've got an old style logo EMG 81/85 set, Faber locking bridge and tailpiece, Gotoh locking tuners and a set of strap locks coming.

Also this came from Japan to Poland. It has a rosewood fretboard. I didn't see any CITES certificate or papers anywhere.

So I put the EMGs in it and it doesn't sound quite right. Instead of the open string ringing out it sounds like it's muffled. I've ordered a pair of Irongear passives to see if it helps. A hot slag on the bridge and a rolling mill in the neck.

I find EMG and other actives need to be raised quite close to the strings to get that open sustain.

If they were any closer they'd be touching. I've used EMGs for 14 years. The only other time I've encountered something like this was about 10 years ago I was in DCGL playing ESPs and one of the Eclipse models just sounded like ass with EMGs.

This V had a filled in battery cavity in the back when i got it so maybe this is another one that just doesn't like actives?

Now that's a very white V guitar you have. I love V guitars since I own a black Jackson King V myself. The upper fret access is superb on V's.

So the guitar was just sitting unplugged for a couple of days. Today I got my passive junk to put in. So I take out the battery and it's like super hot. That's bad right? Probably means I fucked the wiring up somewhere and could be why it sounds like ass right?
