the only guitars I like from drinkwater were their old headless designs, which xen came up with.

I really like the strat-style SS8. I dream of having a 7 and 8 string multiscale with traditional strat body. Also love the plain, compact, unbranded headstocks on OAF/Drinkwater guitars.

The input jack on the first guitar is a head-scratcher.

That Raptor design is awesome... but wtf is going on with that jack?!

I can't even imagine the thought process that led to someone thinking it was a good idea to put it there.

I know, I want one of those, too! I didn't get one when back in the day, and I've never seen them for sale.

According to their response to a YouTube video comment, they discuss this in an upcoming video.

    It's an output jack actually.

The location makes good sense when you use a 90 degree plug cable. You can rotate it to any angle you want, to have the lead go to the left or right or straight down between your legs when sitting, as well as being completely out of the way of your legs in classical position. Better than a Strandberg Boden where the lead exits into your leg when in classical position.
Using a 90 degree plug cable into a front or back mounted socket also naturally prevents pull-out, so that locking jack isn't actually needed.

Conventional output jack location on guitars and basses is often fairly bad, but people accept it because it's always been that way, which is the case for many guitar design aspects (Strats and superstrats are old, bad design).

Yess.If you're curious the specs are
    Roasted Swamp Ash Body
    Micrastone Top
    Roasted Flamed Maple Neck
Fishman Fluence Modern 8 string pickups
Hitshot hardware ( Either black or mixed black/gold. I can't remember what I did)

It is going to be very sick. I can't wait!

That switch placement is wonky... I get that they say "just use a right angle cable" but a lot of players dont have one everywhere they play and without one it's super awkward... and some people point out strandberg or other's weird placements for certain positions but the same argument could be made for those... "just use a right angle cable"... the only difference is those are still pretty playable even without one.

True. Not everyone has right angle cables. It doesn't matter much to me. I'll just go get a few. All in all the price for the raptor is a GREAT deal. You can't even get a decent Kiesel multiscale 8 for 1400 new. Oh and you can actually get roasted woods not baked "treatments". I will do a NGD post whenever I get my lava rose raptor in!
