    I. Can't. Wait. for this album.
I just hope to God it's not full of random blargh and bree-ing that their most recent single was during the first half of the song... :ugh:

    Lotus is fucking amazing though.

i agree. You are referring to the single that came out after Lotus right? not Kageblahblah....

I get why they do those songs, but they sound like shit live and they arent really the songs that i would want to re-listen to.

Yeah I'm reffering to Different Sense. After the blarghing stops it's a good song though. And Hageshisa is full of blargh too, but it's different and actually not bad.

Gaika, Chinmoku ga Nemuru Koro is also a good song that is pretty unintelligble
It does on the other hand have a very nice melodic chorus.

I dunno Uroboros didnt really grab me. It had a few songs i really liked for sure, but i LOVED Vulgar, Withering to Death and Marrow of a Bone. Such an interesting shift between those three albums. I feel like they plateaued a bit, personally of course, on Uroboros.

Typical Diru interview, subtle as usual.

I'm the opposite, from a guy who got into them because of Guaze, I thought Uroboros wicked. But I do agree that the shift between said albums was interesting, even if I didn't appreciate it at the time.

It was actually Uroboros that got me into them, I didn't like anything but Kodou before
Then I heard Vinushka and got completely blown away, now I like everything except for their earliest stuff.

    Double post hurrhurr

So now I've listened to the album, thanks to Ryan for giving it to me. I'm disappointed, the entire album is drop A except for Hageshisa, which is Bb (and remastered to crap..).
It's not nearly as diverse as Uroboros was, which featured everything from funk to brutal guitars. But they still definitely have their own style.

I found 1 good song and 2 other decent ones of the new tunes; Vanitas, Ruten No Tou and Diabolos.
I personally don't think that their new sound is any good at all, I'm not really a fan of using 7s for teh br00talz either, so that probably has something to do with it. I get bored easily, because a lot of the songs are just chugging around on the low A with dissonance here and there.
It's gonna be interesting to see how Kyo does some of the songs live, because the vocals are so polished, especially the cleans, I have a hard time seeing how he'll pull it off decently live.

Lotus is a good song, and the old version of Hageshisa is also very good. Then there's 2 bonus tracks, Rasetsukoku (I've finally got hold of it ) which I like a lot, and a symphonic version of another song on the album; Amon. The symphonic version is actually pretty decent.

All in all, it's a lot of what I feared - unintelligble blarghing :(

^ i agree with his blarghing...for someone with sooo much range and individuality its a shame to see him limit himself with that one dimensional shit.

Marrow was one of the albums i didnt care for on first listen but ended up really enjoying. But I would say "Wither" is my favorite album.

I can't say I'm happy with this years releases so far.

Dir En Grey took a huge shit on me, being one of my favourite bands. Same thing with Trivium, both suffered from the same thing; they bored the crap out of me (Dum Spiro Spero was genuinely bad in my opinion though ).
Let's hope the new Gazette-album that'll be out 10th October doesn't disappoint. Their latest singles have been really solid so I'm looking forward to it :yesway: I did enjoy Alice Nine's latest album too.

^ Withering To Death I suppose. That is the first album I bought.

I love everything they have ever done though

I have listened to Different Sense a bajillion times since they released it  The growls and high pitched shreeky screaming is awesome to me, just shows how ridiculously good of a vocalist Kyo is.

They pulled off the songs with the low growling and squeals perfectly live when I saw them back in October, I was very impressed.

    Vulgar.

I'm liking Dum Spiro Spero a lot. It's more focused, and has a bit of a better flow.

No it's not a mishmash of songs like Uroboros was, and that was also a pretty great album.

The singles are great, and Diablous is amazing. Amon's Symphonic version is also pretty good.

Withering was catchy, and Marrow was fucking dark. Clever Sleazoid still is one of the weirdest songs I've heard, <3 the broken Engrish.

As for the "blarghing". It only sounds that way to us :/ It's mostly just the way he screams and growls the Japanese.

Dude trust me, it's NOT because he's doing it in Japanese. It sounds like blarghing when he does it in English too
And because I listen to as much Japanese stuff as I do, I can say for sure that not everyone sounds like that when they growl.

I didn't know a lot about them, so I went to see them at WOA, well,it's weird stuff and lots of monochromatic growling, not that interesting imho. Good sound, good musicians, but nothing inspiring.

To their defense they had some tech issues. FUNFACT: if you check out Obscure live WOA at YT you'll see and hear Kyo shouting "TEME!" (fuck, damnit, you'reafuckingidiotforthis) at someone mid-song.

I think Dum Spiro Spero is one of their greatest albums if not THE greatest.
The songs wasn't that diverse as the ones on Uroboros but they were always distinct. Also, DSS seemed to have a theme, all out darkness as opposed to Uroboros which was everything.

And for all the Different sense haters, it's a great song. they pull it off decently live, except of the high pitched screams during the "chorus" which is done live by Toshiya (bass), he growls/shouts them. it sounds wrong, everything else is close to spot on.
