Grabbed me a Mesa Mark V 25 watt.

For the last 5 years or so, I have not found an amp that I like as much as my 5150 212 combo. My Mako Mak4 came VERY close, and I probably would've liked it better through a VHT power amp rather than the SLA-2 I used with it. But otherwise, compared to a JSX, 6505+, D60, MTS3200, 5150 BL, and a slew of other amps that I can't think of, nothing has been better for my style.

But lately, I've been wanting something a little bit different. I am getting away from playing in bands at this stage in my life, and I want to focus on writing my own music and being with my family, since I have a 2 year old, and my wife works opposite schedule to mine...so I want to spend more time at home. I've been wanting something to do basically every tone I would need, and something low wattage, but that gets loud enough to hang with a drummer for the random jams that I will still be doing. Been wanting something that does Metallica tones easily. Something that would basically be a home recordists dream.

Enter Mrak V 25. This amp is EXACTLY what I have been wanting. Low wattage, but still loud, Metallica tones all over the place, SUPER easy to dial them in, too. Plus, I am still able to find my signature tone on it. Its tight and aggressive, but still smooth. TONS of clarity and punch, which really surprised me coming from a 25 watt el84 power section.

The amp is absolutely incredible, and I love the shit out of it.

Here are a bunch of clips.

Was waiting to see if you were gonna throw those clips up...if you hadn't done it by end of the week, they were going in the V25 big thread. HNAD again!

I saw this on GAB even though I dont have an account there.

I usually dont like mini amps, but this Mark V 25 seems to be an exception. It seems to have a big deep sound even though it has the baby power tubes. Looks cool!

If I were buying a tube amp now, I would have a hard time deciding between this and a 5153 mini.....

Congrats on the new amp! I love my Mark V. If I ever needed to downsize I would definitely be getting one of these.

    Thanks guys!!

I've always doubted the ability of EL84s to get that bigger tube sound, and I owned a Fryette Memphis for a short time, and it did have this little squishier tone and feel to it. But this one...punches just as well as my 5150 does. Really surprised me.

What really sold me was the video of Petrucci playing it with the Mesa guys there. But the amp is amazing. Incredible tone, insanely versatile. TONS of stuff packed into this little guy. Its basically a dream come true for home guitar players/recordists who rarely get really loud.

    I love it.

    Thanks!

I intend to record it using each mode on the amp, and then splice them together so that you can hear all of the modes/channels in a single song. Will be working on that later tonight.

Excited to hear it... are you gonna be using the cabclone for all your recording?

Nope, no cab clone. I used it to test out, and Ill post that clip below. Micing it sounds better every time, so I dont see the cab clone getting much use. I also have a weber load dump that Ive been using with my 5150 for about 6 months, and Ive made my own IRs that I think sound better than anything else out there...so if I decide to do direct recordings with it, itll be using that method rather than the cab clone.

haha yeah, I was gonna say, I remember Shask from back in the day.

Its definitely not the same retarded antics that was once HCAF. The majority of the dudes that started drama are gone, though there are still one or 2 left.
