Im dumb and couldn’t resist and now I’m in the dog house big time.

But I’m in there with these! Ibanez RG7CT (needs no introduction) and a Craft House ESP Snapper CTM24-7

Both have the look of a road dogs, with their share of scars, but they still play and sound really nice.

The ESP looks to be 27” scale, and I even kinda like the pointy stock. And the top makes me want to go swimming!

Thanks dudes! It’s been a while since I’ve had one of these older RG7s with the narrower neck. I forgot how comfortable it is. Fretwork is hilarious. I think I put it at about 1mm off the 24th and it doesn’t buzz so I left it there haha.

The Snapper is something special. I’ve had so many guitars, some just seem to have a little something more. A bright, snappy attack but still a big, warm resonance to everything. Dunno if it’s just luck of the draw or this is a typical Craft House thing, but it’s an impressive guitar.

Sounds super Stratty too. It has 24 frets, but the 27” scale and the neck pickup jammed right on the edge of the board actually has the neck pickup placed maybe a few millimeters further from the bridge than you’d typically see on a 25.5” Strat. It clucks and quacks and does all the things you’d want.

It has a mini toggle and a push/pull pot that seem to be disconnected (I don’t hear them doing anything). I assume they were to split the bridge pickup and add the neck pickup, but I haven’t had the pickguard off yet.

that snapper is sick. I'm usually not a fan of pickguards but that one plays off the hardware really well.

Oh, and I have tin ears. The switch and push/pull do work.

The switch gives you split bridge + neck in position 2 (instead of split bridge + middle) and split bridge + middle + neck on position 4 (instead of middle + neck).

And the push/pull changes the value of the tone cap (for singles vs humbucker value).

I'll be the odd man out here and say Congrats, but I think the ESP looks like a Godin, sorry.

I'm sure the build quality is insanity.

But that Ibanez, Holy shit, This is what dreams are made of!

    Congrats!

I dont know how it compares to the 7CT, but when i had the RG8527 which is I think an identical spec-wise, it was bomb awesome. Such massive tone, even after I butchered her putting in an 81-7 and 707 lol. Nice grab!

Cool man. I think the old RG8527 was pretty much the same thing except for a bound neck and the J Custom logo?

I had an RG8127, which I think came a little later and had the newer, wider neck dimensions and the Edge Pro. It was a nice guitar, but the 7CT is a bit more comfortable. Just have to be more careful not to pull the strings off the edge of the frets.

I was kinda curious about this. I made a new thread about a similar comparison. Trying to compare the neck of the DCM100 to the 1077XL, where the XL had the 66mm wide neck, and the DCM has the newer 68mm wide neck. How did the two compare for you?

It looks kinda like an Anderson Guardian Angel to me? But I do prefer the look of the RG, that’s for sure.

I have always loved the RG7CT in that vintage violin burst.

I answered in your thread. It’s a very noticeable different to me. The shape of the necks changed too. There’s more shoulder to the necks too. They just feel bigger.
