Conquering Dystopia and Alluvial are the two that spring to mind instantly.

I dont think anyone's ever heard of this band around here but its called Animals as Ladders, and from what i've heard the bass player Toaster Apache is quite the sensation!

Not a "band" per se, but Guthrie's "Erotic Cakes" is a record-long downbreak of the possibilites of the guitar.

Hell, I haven't heard a guitar song as imaginative as "Wonderful Slippery Thing" since then.

    What genre/style?

Could be The Hot Club of France, Santo and Johnny, Dave Brubek Quartet, Duane Eddy, Dick Dale, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, Man..or Astroman, Estradasphere, Spastic Ink, etc. etc.

You want jazz, metal, surfrock, avant-garde, klesmer, bluegrass, royal antactic microtonal bagpipe inhaling dad-core post-stoner doomcore?!

I mean, honestly, if the OP was any less specific, it would read "Recommend me some music to listen to."

It can be anything Metal, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Prog, I mean seeing that we’re on SSO it’s obvious about what to suggest.

    Check out Estradasphere:

    (live)

    (studio)

    Check out Jimmy Rosenberg Trio:

    Check out Happy Family:

Check out Laika and the Cosmonauts:

(first half of the video, then they back up the other artist)

If any of these are interesting, I can recommend more similar. If not, I can recommend some that are totally different from these.
