They will keep putting the Tube Screamer moniker on pedals until they stop selling.

Seeing as we're on iteration 11 or 12 depending where you count and nearly twice that if you include Maxon, I don't see them doing it anytime soon.

Look at it this way, the TS branding works so well that even competitors use the legacy to sell thier products.

I just saw one posted on Reverb & apparently, it's selling for $249 US. Considering a regular TS is only about $100 or so, that little "nu tube" thingy had better have some serious 'tone magic' in it to warrant the extra $150.

$250? Jeeze. I think I'll stick to the Pale Horse, The Scream, 805, and Tube Screamer Mini pedals I have.

Ibanez is so behind the trends they don’t even know to put a sticker with Misha’s signature over the Nu Tube logo.

So it has a miniature low voltage vacuum tube that may provide an input gain stage (the Nutube has about 1/20th the gain of a 12AX7). Does that somehow make it magically sound better? LOL. This has gimmick written all over it, IMHO. Note that tiny subminature tubes have been around forever they have just never been available in an SMD package before. They have hardly set the audio world on fire.

That's kinda what I was saying. The "mix" knob is a cool variation but I doubt it'll be THAT much better than a stock TS9 or even a TS9 Turbo.

Or, let's fact it, a Sparkle Drive/Sparkle Drive Mod, which already does the TS thing with a mix knob. So basically, you're paying a huge amount of markup for a different colored casing, and an overpriced "tube."

Funny enough, even on laptop speakers I can tell the difference between the pedals in that video. I do like the Nu Tube a little better, but as many others have said, I don't like it for $150 more

Wish they would do something more interesting with Nutube...

Agreed, I’d like to see some preamp pedals or quality distortions with this tech.

adding one to a tubescreamer really seems low effort.

I'll be sticking with my tubes creamer mini. A/Bing that little guy against a TS-9 doesn't make me feel like I'm missing a significant amount of tone for the space it saves me on the board... and the price was right. I won't ever spend over $200 for a tube screamer variant.

Wonder if people here would be outraged by the price if instead of Ibanez the Brand was one the " Boutique Brands" out there that sell TS clones for 250 bucks as well ;)

If it's a 'high gain' pedal like the Amptweaker or something like that, it's a different story but more than $200 for a "tubescreamer" type variant is crazy unless it has dual channels or has multiple modes/settings.
