Okay i know the pricepoint is tempting but:

    - Pickups are pure and utter garbage
    - neck is quite a bit fatter than ANY ibanez
    - QC is like throwing the dice (5 out of 6 times you get sh*t)
    - upper fret acces is pretty much non-existent
    - tuners are crap

If you go up 1 step to the next more expensive HB you get waaaaay more quality for not that much more money.
    OR! Get a used prestige:french:

EDIT: Yes i tried this guitar and its black brother and both have the same problems.
I never owned one tho, just tried them at thomann...

I own the FF. Breakdown of mine:
Shipping - Arrived damaged due to poor packaging.
Support - Slow due to time zone difference, but overall very excellent.
    Weight - 'Not light'
Frets - Needed work, both ends and surface.
Finish - Some finish run and swirling but not bad for that price.
Fit - Decent. I've seen far worse on much more expensive guitars.
Hardware - Shoddy. Some of it seemed to be worn at random.
    Controls - Mushy.
Neck - Very thick, bad curves. Upper register is okay but riffing is a chore.
Pickups - With enough modelling and/or effects they're playable.

Mine did set up and play properly in the end though.

Bottom line is there isn't much in that price range. I've played entry level Ibbys and Jacksons that were far better, but also played the same that were far worse. Same goes for China knockoffs, though I do feel in general the more reputable overseas sellers ship nicer guitars.

If that's your price range I would look into used Agiles or something. But if the situation is that you need a new cheap guitar from a big box store, then there aren't many options.

lets be honest with Harley Bentons (ive owned at least 5) is, they are pure pure project/kit builds for the money.

i.e if you buy one, when it arrives, remove EVERYTHING. Pickups, tuners, bridge etc. THrow it all in the trash.

If its a bolt on remove the neck too and check the pocket/measurements etc.
Literally start again as though its a kit.

If I was to buy another I would even sand it back and refinish because 9/10 the finish has blemishes too.

no way in hell can you just keep it standard and go gigging.

Just get an agile. Can get a 27 inch scale passive bolt on for $400-$450 usd shipped. And the passive pickups are good. I wish I had them. My 828 has blackouts and my 930 has 909s. http://www.rondomusic.com

You might be screwed if you want a good product. But I say buy the one you've been looking at to get your own opinion on it. Watch this and this one and click on about the 45 minute mark
