bad combination of things here, dots instead of blocks would go a long way towards salvaging that, but.... still gross

It looks like Fender trying to do 1960's Gibson.

Good for them. I don’t like it, but nice to see them try something new.

Wonder what’s up with the bridge. Not the typical Tele plate.

EDIT: actually, make it black with a tort guard and maybe more subtle inlay, and it would be pretty cool. Or a Jim Root version. I’d rock that.

Looks like something MotorAve would have come up with.

Looks like some kind of hi-mass bridge, or a modern Tele plate w/ a partial cover because...  Probably to cover the springs.

I just wish they would expand the MiM Classic Series. They have late 50s, early, 60s and 70s Stratocaster. Give us an early 50s ash and late 60s fat-head pre-bullet 4 bolt models also. Do they not know how well a MiM priced 68-69 "Hendrix" strat would sell? Most make do with the 70s Stratocaster but that don't make it right...

Maybe they’re constrained by trying to do something novel, yet not stray too far from being conservative for their regular fans. Because I’d think a company this size would hire people who could design shapes that are generally appreciated. There are a lot of really cool designs getting made by independent luthiers these days, so it’s possible. But Fender and Gibson can’t seem to do it.

Everyone already knows what they want from Fender and Gibson. Either the same old classics or the same old classics updated with modern player comforts. Nobody really expects or wants them to push boundaries or come up with new gimmicks anymore. Every time they try it fails.

They should dial the “innovation” back until they get to these bad boys again.

I love it. Haters gonna hate.

Actually you could probably put a tele pickup set into a les Paul and I’d say it was awesome. Maybe don’t listen to me.
