just get a non latching switch that interupts the hot wire to the output jack momentarily when pressed. you could take out a tone knob if you dont use it so you dont have to drill extra holes.

Epiphone used to make a GT series of guitars that one of the tone or volume knobs was a secret tappy killswitch. I thought that was a really cool idea, wish more guitars had it.

Sweet thanks! My guitar only has one volume and one tone, but I don’t use the tone I suppose, what would happen with regards to the tone if I removed its knob?? Could I keep it on full somehow without a switch?

    When removed it's on "full".

Get a Shadow Kill Pot and put it in place of your volume or tone. You can't tell its there and no drilling needed. I put them on all of my player guitars, great product and I've never had one fail yet.

Wow they look great! Few questions as you use it... what does Linear or Logarithmic taper mean?
Also if I were to use it on the volume knob, is it easy to repeatedly alter the volume by mistake by tapping the switch?
    Cheers!!

...and then some. Most pots themselves introduces a bit of a change, even if it's turned all the way up.

This is actually a really useful thing to learn if you have any desire to ever work on guitars and learn about their electronics. Definitely google those terms. In short, you might think you want linear, but with volume, our ears and brains tend to think that a logarithmic taper sounds more linear. This is part of the reason why logarithmic pots are often called "audio taper".

I had one of these too! I had an Explorer GT on which I would sloppily play Children of Bodom and intermittently attempt Jordan by Buckethead. My guitar teacher told me it was a "crap guitar" but I always had a soft spot for it.

The Kill Pot has a detent at the full on "10" position to help keep it from moving, if you have it in any other position it will probably move slightly when tapping on it.

Linear and Log/Audio tapers.. Basically linear is what it says..half way up will be 50%.. Log is a different curve where it increases very slow at first then fast at the end. Log is typically used for volume controls and linear for tone controls.

Those are very cool with the LED and work well, a friend has two installed in his guitars..but they require you to drill a large hole in the guitar..7/8" if i remember correctly, so not reversible or something you would want to put on a valuable guitar.

there are options for similar killswitches like ironage, from Ebay that are 10mm and do not require drilling - with the price of 2-3 USD(plus a battery setup about 4-5 USD), they are LED and if you are into the stuff you can do it yourself.
