Ok so i was gonna swap in a peg to my 6 string rgd. I trimmed the ears and it wont sit deep enough in the route do to the screws. Im not wanting to route the cavity deeper. Any suggestion?

Drilling a hole for each screw would work, as long as it doesn't have a trem.

I thought the Pegasus 7 sounded like a Tone Zone 7, but that may not translate to the 6-string versions.

I have drilled individual holes under each pole piece to fit the pickups in multiple guitars. Works well as long as there isn't a giant route behind it for tremolo springs.

The Blaze bridge has a similar EQ, but it sounds more like a spaceship and less like strings.

The Pegasus has similar characteristics to a Tone Zone, but the Pegasus is way tighter in my opinion (a lot less bass).

I think the Norton and Imperium are the closest to the Pegasus.

That was not my experience at ALL, lol. The Pegasus was a lot drier, with a brighter, almost singlecoil-like attack. The Tone Zone was darker and middier.

I actually didn't get on with the Pegasus, but LOVED the Sentient in the neck. The Sentient, to me, in 7-string form, is as close as I've come to finding a PAF Pro with seven strings, so maybe I'd suggest trying a PAF Pro in the bridge position.

Oh man, the guitar I had with a Pegasus was so dark, I thought maybe the pickup was broken. Maybe it was. (I actually could get along fine with the TZ7 and that Pegasus once I tinkered with them and their adjustments).

I didn't shoot a direct video comparison between the TZ7 and the Pegasus, but I compared it to... Um, actually, that's not true, I did a 3-way comparison between an AN/TZ, Sentient/Pegasus, and Jazz/rewound JB:

It's an odd pickup - sort of has the singlecoil-esq characteristics, kinda dark but with a very clear, dry high end to it. I guess overall it's a little reminiscent of a Tone Zone, but IMO the JB was a lot closer.

Easiest and quickest solution without buying another pickup, just cut a few millimeters off the screws! I've done it before and its pretty easy.

So if you don't want to modify the pickup just buy new screws, replace them and try the pup... if you don't like the Pegasus in that guitar put it back in the other one or sell it and buy a DiMarzio that doesn't sound as a Pegasus because you didn't like it in that guitar.

In my book 6 screws are A LOT cheaper than buying another pup (the DiMarzio) and is totally reversible, easy to do, leave no marks of modification...

    Just new but shorter screws.

Or just cut the screws and if you don't like it buy new longer ones like the stock screws and sell the pup...

I cut screws shorter all the time to fit humbuckers in my strat. I figure I'm never going to raise the pole pieces farther up than a few mm so what's the harm?

Ping Duncan about it - I think they'll send you the shorter screws.
