They have a new ten minute interlude/song thingy up on youtube. I'm not sure how much love there is for these guys on here, but they are one of my top five,

Seems they have returned to the concept/story, which is awesome.

    Huge Coheed fan here.
Crazy that Year of the Black Rainbow still feels like a new album to me. Sounds promising!

I've always liked their sound, but never got super into any particular songs, save for a one or two really good ones. This sounds promising though. :yesway:

    Play-by-play while I listen:

Listening now, the intro piano reminds me of IKSoSE3, which is perfectly fine by me.
Goes sort of YoTBR/Afterman-esque with the static effects
Not crazy about the monologue, little too cheesy/Rhapsody of Fire for me
Musically, seems very stripped down for a single, but definitely a "more is less" vibe and still distinctly Coheed
Picks up a little later in the song (~6 minutes in) but still feels like it's holding back or like it's building to something
Comes to a close fairly unclimactically, seems like it should be split into two songs with something going in the middle and the 2nd part acting as a reprise

I love everything but YoTBR (mainly cause of the atrocious YA book Claudio put with it, but it was also just eh), so don't take this as a non-fan slagging it for the sake of slagging it; I'm just curious as to how this works in context of the album

Fingers crossed they go back to doing concepts. Didn't give the last one much of a chance but interested where this goes.

After reading through the comics years ago, I thought there was something very cool about the lore of the keywork, and how everything kind of fit together. I didn't much care for Afterman I, and I don't think I ever listened to Afterman II or the album that wasn't part of the original concept. This song doesn't really do anything for me though either, and the name Dark Sentencer is very middle school.

This band delivers the catchiness that plants crave.

Man I've had this on repeat for days now. Super nostalgic for me as Good Apollo I'm burning star 4 really broke me into prog rock, before that I was a sad emo boy lol that album to me was so messed up and amazing 10 years ago, (which got me into weirder bands like closure in Moscow and Mars volta) the albums they released progressively got less impressive for me and in fact I later listened their older albums and was much more Impressed and felt that they would be fantastic re-recorded albums.

That being said this this song reminds me of REAL coheed, the coheed I couldn't get enough of as a teenager.

Still think Second Stage Turbine Blade is their best album, I'll check out the new stuff.

    Neverender still gives me shivers.

Am I the only diehard YOTBR guy here?
So many huge tracks on that album.

I don't think these guys have ever put out an album that wasn't at least good.

I thoroughly enjoyed YotBR and never understood all the hate it got online when it came out.
