In a way, the shifted vocal range feels like a tribute to Chuck. I don't disapprove, but will take a few listens. James doesn't seem horribly enthused in the video, but the music sounds like Arsis is still fun for him again. And "can do no wrong" is good as long as we accept that James was truly not himself for Starved. No one to fault for Darren's ridiculously stupid drumming on 'Nightmare' other than the label. I would love to hear that stuff with this drummer.
Stoked for this album though. Unwelcome is up there with Celebration for me.

James Malone / Arsis have been a great band for a long time, and very unsung for all their efforts. Glad to see new material out!

....sh*t, I now must listen to 'A Diamond For Disease' on the drive home!

Finally got my copy of the album. It’s absolutely phenomenal. The production is great (Mark Lewis is probably my abortive producer in metal), the musicianship is top tier, and it’s great.

First got into Arsis when Celebration of Guilt got a perfect review from the site metalreview.com, glad to see they are still making music and I like what I hear so far of the new album.

Are the guitars still 6-string in D-standard?

The first two albums were Drop C and D Standard, Nightmare has some E standard (!!) songs, Starve was like half step/Drop C#, Unwelcome had songs in Drop B....... They tune all over the damn place. I think the new record is all over the place tuning wise, because I’m pretty sure the first two tracks are Drop C.
