At least the fret access is a little better than the actual Roswell Rhodes.
Can't wait to see it at NAMM!
I'm shocked by this thread.
I love (at least aesthetically) Jackson Roswell Rhoads, and I really had no idea there were so many people that didn't think they were the coolest thing ever.
ewwwwwwwwww double post
Great idea! Just like Stig from D-A-D's basses
There was also that Lynch V from ESP that looks like it
Well, time for Jackson to bring back the roswell. Wood, silver paint, ebony board, 1PU, perfect.
The original aluminum one is incredibly cool and unique. The wood import ones don't have the same cool factor. Would be rad if they made the Amir Derakh Roswell Star in a production model though as the extra horn balances out the look a bit.
I almost like that, minus the jack placement (which is my complaint about some of the concordes too) and the headstock. I've always thought the roswell would be cooler with a regular ole pointy headstock.
Ha yeah I actually immediately thought of Orgy and Silverchair playing the Roswell stuff back in the late 90s. Really interesting shape for sure.
I like it. *shrug*
Or looks like ass, feels like diarrhea. It really does.
Yes, I have a lasting memory of seeing an original aluminum one at the Jackson booth at a guitar show when I was a teenager. It was pretty intimidating as it looked more like a piece of art than a functional instrument. I hear a voice over my shoulder say "That thing is wild, try it out." It was Scott Ian from Anthrax. He picked it up, played a few chords and handed it to me. He was there promoting his Jackson JJ guitars (with the dice inlays). The dude couldn't have been nicer!
I've always loved the look of the Roswell Rhoads myself. But then I'm a BCR guy. The RR would probably be the one Jackson I would buy (if I had infinite dollars).
All of that out of the way, I don't much care for this. Maybe Fender (whom I believe owns Jackson) can throw a little litigation their way, sort of a "taste of their own medicine" thing. But I digress, my LP is the best guitar I own (though I did have to play through an army of Gibson duds before I got to it).
I thought the Roswell Rhodes were cool and Amir Derakh's star variant looked cooler. Not just in shape, but with all the extra synth options thrown with much of his guitars. Sadly I still dislike the upper fret access.
I love those basses. I always think of the one with the giant headstock-shpaed body and the tiny body-shaped headstock.
This thing is hideous. They're hit or miss. The last model they released (new shape, I forget the name) I LOVE.
Same price or cheaper than a limited edition MIJ/MIA ESP or other competitor.
According to music radar its $4500. Is anyone surprised Gibson are going under?
$4,500. You gotta admire Gibson's balls in doubling down on their failures. With all the speculation that they're trying to sort of transcend the guitar market and become an everything brand, who the hell do they think their target audience is? Who's buying all these Slash guitars and one offs? People with lots money aren't going to spend thousands on a fucking guitar just because Gibson switches trade shows.
Fuck 'em. I buy all my shit used anyway.
