This first video serves as an introduction to the warm up routine called “24 Spiders”.

The following 4 videos contain a demonstration of the exercise I have named “24 Spiders”. It has been grouped into 4 parts, one part per video, each containing 6 small exercises. You will find a Guitar Pro file, tablature and a PDF at the bottom of the page.

In short however we start at the 9th position, playing the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th fret in that order, which ligns up as a “1-2-3-4” fingering. We play that on all the strings, move down one fret, play the same pattern descending through the strings and so on till we reach the 1st position on the high E string.

We will go through the total amount of permutations of the 1-2-3-4 fingering, and they are as follows:

    Group 1: 1-2-3-4, 1-2-4-3, 1-3-2-4, 1-3-4-2, 1-4-2-3, 1-4-3-2
    Group 2: 2-1-3-4, 2-1-4-3, 2-3-1-4, 2-3-4-1, 2-4-1-3, 2-4-3-1
    Group 3: 3-1-2-4, 3-1-4-2, 3-2-1-4, 3-2-4-1, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-2-1
    Group 4: 4-1-2-3, 4-1-3-2, 4-2-1-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-1-2, 4-3-2-1
